good day to all!

if you have to apply to a job which requires you to be in a formal attire 5 days a week, and in case you get hired, will you still ride your bike considering the office is 25km away from your home?

:(

I come in wearing my complete office attire (polo, slacks, leather shoes, etc.). However, I do wear a jacket over my polo to protect it from soot and dirt during my travel. This also protects me from the sun and from smelling like diesel fumes while in the office.

I usually wear dark-colored slacks so that soot and dust particles wouldn't be too obvious.

Thanks for the replies! uhmnn.. additional info.. the job will require you to face customers everyday, it's customer service actually and the office location is inside the mall. you wear long sleeves and you will be parking your bike at the mall parking area for the whole day. kinda risky. don't u think?

I tried it before applying for a job. Naka long sleeves pa ako.

I don't wear formal attire to work, but have ridden my bikes to a fe woccasions like a wedding, formal birthday party and an awards ceremony wearing a pina barong or a 3 piece suit.

My only consideration was the time of day and traffic.

a) I didn't want to sit in traffic in a suit.
b) Didn't want to stay behind a smoke belching bus and ruin the barong.
c) Nighttime weather is cooler

Every now and then, I need to wear a tie when I go to a meeting. Sometimes, I wear it when I reach my destination, sometimes I wear it already. Ok lang either. :)

One thing's for sure. ;)

Ask me. I ride to work on a daily basis in a Barong.
For special events, I'll ride in a suit.
Of course for sporting events, I ride in shorts--

Do it like Nike's slogan , "Just Do It"-- you'll fogure out what works best for you. The best is to keep it simple and don't get into the complex logistics of changing clothes when you get to your place of work, etc. because that is just making sure you will stop riding because it is too much hassle.

I worked part time in a bar as a male host about 2 years. I have to wear formal or fancy/colorful suits. I rode a FZR1000, VFR750 and a CBR400RR then but I use a car when it's raining. There are times that I have to go to my main job as a car mechanic wearing these fancy colorful clothes in the morning and change to my mechanic overalls. My suit and my bikes spells "pro male ****" at night and pro mechanic in the morning :O The only person who told me to stop wearing those fancy clothes is one of my boss (w/c is my wife now :D ).

I did ride to several weddings wearing a tux and to several funeral receptions wearing a black suit on a bike but that was years ago. If given a chance, I want to ride wearing a kimono and pop wheelies... wouldn't that be wild!

One time I rode my bike with ONLY a butterfly neck tie (bo tie??? don't know the spelling), leather shoes, and a full face met. At least I tried to be formal :O

i think what you wear is dependent on the rider. if you dont feel comfortable riding in office clothes then bring a bag and change sa office. here sa saudi di na pansinin yan marami dito ( like me) rides a bicycle to work hehehe!!! later siguro kahit na naka motor ganun pa din :R

Pag heavy and traffic, I drive back and hop on to my scooter and go to my appointment in Barong Tagalog. No problem if the weather is fine.

....In winter I wear my shirt and trousers inside my winter gears. If I have to wear the thermals the work clothes stay in the backpack. The work shoes stays in the locker.
....In summer I put my trousers and shirt in the backpack. The trousers stays in the locker and comes home after 3 days. I have 3 lockers - one for the lid, one for the m/c clothes and one for the boots and gloves. :D

I once rode with only a t-shirt to cover my body. At 50mph+ my body felt like being hit by tens of thousands on needles. Mahapdi afterwards.

I've just bought a pair of black denims (m/c jeans cut) with all the paddings in the right places and line with kevlar for abrassion resistance. It cost a little over the price of a pair of Levi's. It should be great for summer.

Salamat po sa mga suggestions!

d ko lang kasi ma imagine na hinda ako makaka ride everyday dahil lang sa nature ng job ko. if in case, i'll befriend the guards at the mall, wear dark pants, wear longsleeves under a jacket, come at the office a lil earlier to fix myself. bring perfume and gel. wag lang sana uulan at ayos na! :)

thanks again!

At least I ain't alone...

I also ride to work with the 'long sleeve shirt, slacks and leather shoes' combo. A jacket to keep the dirt and dust would complete the package.

Maganda talaga epekto nito, as Sir Jumbing pointed out, lalo na sa mga pumapara sa mga checkpoints. (Added effect pa pag kinawayan mo sila sabay smile!) :D

The downside is I don't feel as comfortable as I would when riding with the appropriate gear. Half my mind is occupied with the thought na "Paano kaya pag sumemplang ako? Magagasgas kaya bago kong long sleeves?!"

But hey, kung sa opisina lang naman ang punta, I make it a point na I drive much safer (and slower) than I would normally do on a non-office related trip. Iwas disgrasya ka na, you still get the chance to flaunt your slick outfit to the jeepney/taxi drivers you leave behind in the traffic jam. :D

Ride safe!

count me in!
I also ride in my office uniform kaya ayaw ko tanggalin fairings ng bike ko para iwas dumi at putik sa slacks, medyas at leather shoes. I wear a jacket over my shirt at ang polo ko nasa bag ko lang muna until I get to the office. I use my dirt bike pag punta sa site or any day na dark ang color ng pants ko.

count me in, i always wear formal outfit coz my job demands me to do so, but riding to work with this stuff..... definitely!! YESSSS.

it made you pointed out to those peeps out there that there are many of us whom are professionals and working in the office who rides 2 wheels for practicality and for a much safer ride to office. dami kasi jan tingin sa mga naka 2 wheels, sagabal sa daan at mga barrio-tic! kita mo last night, kung nakasakay ka ng bus pauwi from the office, baka isa ka pa dun sa mga nabomba!

di ba mga bossing who rides to office???!!!

i wear a long sleeved t-shirt over my office clothes to keep them from dust and smoke, this is during the hot summer months. a jacket during cool seasons. and always bring along a cool body spray cologne to use after the ride.

I used to ride wearing Long Sleeves, Khaki Pants, with my leather shoes. That was when I had a CBR, now that I only have a scooter hindi ko na ginagawa yun. Parang hindi bagay kasi eh... just my opinion!

Wearing my uniform with coat n tie, pag pasok ko long sleeves n jacket pero pag pauwi na and need to wash na din my coat wear ko na din less the jacket. And medyo less dust dito kc im working here inside clark eco zone. And kung lagay mo naman yung uniform mo sa compartment or bag malulukot.

If you have any backpack, you may bring your formal attire with you in you backpack and change when you get there. Specially when you encounter thick dark smoke belching cages along the way.
When folded, place it on a large hard folder/binder para hindi malukot.:D

noong first na naka formal attire ako at may dala full-face helmet and backpack, pinagtawanan ako ng friends at workmates ko. but as time goes by, naging ordinary nalang sa kanila. kaya that shouldn't stop you in riding na naka formal attire... :punk:

count me to one of those formal-attire-wearing-office-employee-biker.

sometimes, i even go to mib tambays still wearing my office attire.

downside: you sometimes smell like morning smog
upside: less travel time

hehe...if you can't beat them, join them. hehe :O

Oh well, at first I find it embarassing to wear formal clothes on a scooter. After several times of doing so, I said what the heck! It's my way, my life and my style. My guy officemates finds it ridiculous but most of my female officemates finds it cool and cute. So, the hell with the guys... Im after the girls!!! Ü
