View Full Version : The importance of Safety gears

Took a spill along Domestic Airport road on my way to work today. A broken down truck spilled diesel fuel all over the road. A few cars took a slide and collided to each other and the resulting accident stopped traffic. Tried to make my way through but I didnt know about the diesel. As soon as I passed the accident, my front tire slid and bike went down. I was going at >10kmh so I put my foot down to keep the bike from falling. Even with oil resistant soles, my shoes couldnt get a grip. I had to let go of the handlebars and let the bike fall. It was too slippery to roll out of the way so the bike took me down as well. Hit both knees on the cement and left elbow hit the handlebar as I went down.

It was no miracle came out of that accident without a single scratch or broken bone. I was fortunate I was wearing safety gears. Komine Triple Knee protectors saved my knees and shins, the elbow and forearm guard on my Fieldsheer magnesium jacket took the impact on my forearm. And my helmet kept my face from kissing the hard pavement.

No matter how your friends say you are wasting your money on those unecessary motorcycle gears that make you look stupid. Dont believe them. I know, I think they just saved my life today and kept me from getting a really huge hospital bill.

About the bike. Well, a few minor scratches on my rear right signal light. Bent brake pedal, misaligned handlebar and rearview mirror. Only one thing broke, it was my right auxiallary headlight. I took the bike to the side of the road after the spill. Inspected everything and made sure nothing was broken and no leaks. Thanked God I was all in one piece, mounted the bike again and sped away smelling of diesel.

Take care everyone. Hope everyone else's day started well!

Merry Christmas!

Thank God your bike was the one suffered a little bit and not you. Thanks also to those Komine brands of safety gears. I envy you because you have the complete set of safety gears. Don't consider what your friends are saying because those are not true!!!

Thanks.

I definitely recommend the Komine Brand Motorcycle apparel. Got mine from Action Hobbies. Along with the Komine Titan Mesh Gloves. Its the only brand that actually does fit me perfectly. Not only that, the price is lower than the American brands, pero pareho lang porma.

If you have extra cash to spend, get those Triple Knee protectors. They saved my skin, literally.

Merry Christmas and have a safe and happy ride!

I myself was saved from a lot of bruises and scratched when I took a spill along commonwealth road last October. Travelling along that very wide road will invite a lot of speeders and my knee/shin protector got a lot of punishment. Also wearing a leather jacket showed how badly I could have been injured. The leather jacker had a lot of scratches but my skin was scratch free. So for all those people who think body armor is silly. Think again. Dress up for the FALL not for when you are riding!!

Ilang bes na ba natin naririnig na we have to wear protective gears
while riding ?..Pero marami pa rin ang ayaw. Anyways, magkano
ba ang bili mo nitong "Triple Knee protectors"? You wear these protectors
under your pants right?..What if your pants are tight fitting?..Ang sagwa naman kung nasa labas...

The Komine Triple Knee protectors I got is worn outside the pants. Medyo sagwa nga tignan pero its worth it. Advantages nya is:

Protects your knees as well as your pants
Keeps most of the dirt off your pant legs

The brand is Fox, mas mura sya, mga P1200 lang or less. Yung Komine nasa P1800 yata kuha ko.

Action Hobbies lahat yan.

you know guys we spend a lot of money setting up our bikes, pag may bago accesories bili agad tayo diba? kaya dapat di tayo manghinayang sa safety gears natin. we can replace broke bike parts, but body parts you just cant buy and replace 'em. i put my pads outside my garments, kasi madali alisin at lagay ko sa backpack if ever im going inside the mall. those people who says it look stupid wearing it are those who are ignorant, or those who never had an accident, dont wait after the accident taska pa lang bibili ng safety gadgets! basta ako susuot ko lagi safety gears ko, kasi gusto ko pa magmotor hangang pagtanda ko!

Thanks for sharing that experience, Rebel250. You always dress for the crash even if you don't expect it to happen.

Sir Rebel250, I'm glad you're ok. Matagal na 'tong thread na 'to pero ngayon ko lang nabasa sori kung delayed reply. Thanks for sharing your experience. You gave us more reason to invest on those safety gears.

Sir rebel, thanks for the reminder. also to our fellow bikers na naka cruiser, its best taht you have engine guards (crash guards) kasi it helps to protect your knees too sa crashes.

sir elgatonegro, scooter lang po ba sineservisan ng EXCEED? may big bike parts and accessories din p ba siya dun? like custom clutch and brake cables na mahahaba for crusier bikes? thanks :-)

@Johann,

about your inquiry, hindi lang puro scooters ang sineservisan ng EXCEED even a Big Bike. Other fellow SRC members are using Big Bikes kaya kapag may konting problem, punta agad kay Master Allan. Exceed is a One stop shop BRO. :punk:
