View Full Version : Just Read And Say Ur Point!!!
ZAI November 11th, 2004, 07:47 PM This is a very disturbing open E-mail letter to all Filipinos around the world; specially here in North America!, from a man who has the power to reach millions of people. (he's a radio talk host)
Please read on..............
Filipinos.....*make me puke* (Art Bell)
As we've all come to notice, in the past few decades, Filipinos have begun to infest the United States like some sort of disease. Their extensive involvement in the U. S. Armed Forces is proof of the trashy kind of qualities all filipinos tend to exhibit on a regular basis. You can see this clearly by studying the attitudes and cultural Icons of most Filipino Americans.
Origins of Pinoys/Pinays:
Are they really asian? Well we've come to accept the fact the filipinos come from a part of the world known as South East Asia. But the term "Asia" is used in the wrong way. You may notice that contemporary Filipino Americans try very hard to associate themselves with groups that we know as Asian. I cannot count the number of times I have seen a 'Third World' Filipino try to connect themselves to the chinese or Japanese people. There is no connection and here's why. The Philippines is a Third World country. Nothing respectable has EVER been created by Filipino people during our entire human history. Young filipino men in
America have become obsessed with "import racing". They have an enormously perverted affection for Japanese cars. It's a common phenomenon. In their minds, these Filipinos somehow believe that they are asian and that it somehow connects them to Japanese people and japanese cars. They often take credit for the ingenuity of Japanese people and say how it's an "Asian thing". This term..."Asian thing" derived directly from African American slang "black thang". "It's a black thang." "It's an asian thang."
You can see the connection. It's even funnier that, in Japan, Filipinos are heavily discriminated against. The only filipinos that can live successfully in Japan are the filipino prostitutes. But that's the case for most Filipino people no matter where they live in the world. Now we've come down to this fact... and it is a fact.
Nothing in Filipino Culture can be seen as Asian.
They have no architectural, artistic, or cultural influence which is in ANY way, asian. Thinking of the great countries in Asia such as Japan, Korea, and China there is no way you can possibly connect the Philippine Islands. This assault by filipino americans to connect themselves with the great peoples of North East Asia is foul and disgusting. Try visiting a young filipino's web site too.
You'll see something called the "Asian IRC Ring". It has to do with the chatrooms. The most horrible thing about this is that these TRASHY people are trying to associate themselves with Asia again!! People in Asia don't act like, this at all. What we are seeing here is the natural Filipino in it's element with full access to technology and this is how they act! You will consistently see this behavior over and over again.
Another interesting thing is that these "thirdworld" people also frequent RC chatrooms such as #chinese #japan and #asian. They must believe that they are some how related racially or culturally to North Asians. But it's completely WRONG! There might have been some distant contact With China and even less with Japan during World War II, but these people are actually more closely related to african americans and Mexican americans.
Do the parents of these young filipinos know what's going on? Would they accept this? I believe that they would and do. This is the natural "Trash" element in filipinos manifesting itself. Nothing good has ever come from Philippines and I don't believe anything good ever will.
Recognizing your Roots (A Message to Filipinos). To all filipino people:
Please recognize your ROOTS! You come from the Third World! You country is a disgusting and filthy place. Most people there live in poverty! Your culture has MUCH MORE SPANISH influence than chinese, and absolutely no JAPANESE influence whatsoever. People in Japan and China, do not act like you. They do not constantly talk about sex and they have a MUCH HIGHER level of RESPECT for each other. There is NO WAY that you can connect yourself to Asia other than location.
Your culture and technological advancement does not even come CLOSE to What Chinese, people have done in the past and what Japanese and Korean people are doing now! Everything you do is distinctly filipino. You cannot take credit for Japanese cars, video games, or Hentai! It's not an "asian thing" it's, an "American thing". You have no concept of culture... no concept of asian ideas or asian philosophy! Can you demonstrate how you use Confucianism or Taoism in you everyday life?? You can't. And you will NEVER be able to.
I understand that you are trying to create an identity for yourselves as young people... but it is NOT related to Asia. Your Identity is Filipino.
That's all you are. Just Filipino. Think about what that means....

Frank Woolf November 12th, 2004, 12:05 PM Your Identity is Filipino.
I agree! Filiponos are unique. The women are far more beautiful than American women. They are mentally much stronger and haven't forgotten how to be feminine.
Nowhere else in the world have I met people who will sacrifice so much for their familes - yes including young girls working as prostitutes so their familes can eat and their brothers and sisters can go to school.
Nowhere else in the world have I met people who can make the best of virtually any situation and even be happy while struggling to survive.
The Philippines does not have the non-stop propaganda and bullsh1t that is constantly pouring out of the USA in movies, news, documentaries, advertisements, etc, etc, making many countries hate them.
The writer accuses the Philippines of taking credit for things done by others. They must be learning from the USA. I have seen documentaries claiming the first electronic computer was made in America when in fact the UK had one cracking the German secret codes ten years earlier. I see documentaries claiming credit for all sorts of inventions etc that are not American at all. We see movies about heros of World War II (often British) where the original heros are replaced with Americans. (I wonder how the descendants of the real heros feel).
When the US loses a war to a third world country they make dozens of movies about how great they were even when they lost.
You see examples of credit grabbing constantly everywhere like American Pizza? I thought Pizza was Italian or even "As American as Apple Pie" Apple pie was probably a very common dish in the UK before the US existed.
OK OK I am ranting again. :D
The Philippines and the people have a lot of problems but so does every other country in different ways. Some just hide it or bury it in bullsh1t better than others.
I have said it before that many of the Philippines problems exist partly due to the strengths and qualities of the Filipino like respect for position going to far and respecting those who deserve no respect. Like making the best of a bad situation without rebelling against those who put them there. Like forgiving those who do not deserve to be forgiven encouraging them to do it again.
America has many people who are so full of their own importance who have monster size egos, who are biggotted like the writer but in fact are ignorant because their ego gets in the way of learning the truth.
Filipinos have some faults like anyone else but they have qualities most Americans cannot even understand.
I hope I haven't upset anyone:D These are generalizations and I do realize there are many exceptions on both sides.
Rebel250 November 12th, 2004, 01:14 PM BTW, we can all email Art Bell at artbell@mindspring.com and give him your views on the matter

oj88 November 12th, 2004, 03:13 PM This email has been circulating for awhile ... it's a hoax.
Absolutely true!
Guys, kindly do your homework and verify the story first before claiming it as fact.
From: http://www.who2.com/artbell.html
Bell did not make a broadcast calling the Philippines "a disgusting and filthy place." A false e-mail recounting his alleged remarks has been circulating online since the 1990s. In 2001 Bell sued the Philippine Daily Inquirer after the newspaper published the e-mail as fact; the Inquirer published a retraction and apologized to Bell.

Medwin November 13th, 2004, 08:14 AM Its hard to face the truth, but most of the contents are true. I keep asking myself "anong nangyari sa Pinas?"
Long time ago Phil. was one of the richest country in Asia, right now we're the only one is Asia who can't afford a fighter jet, we still fly the mitsubishi zero (tora-tora).
Hindi pa rin ako nawawalan ng pag-asa.
invictus November 14th, 2004, 01:49 AM Know thyself. If you reach the point of knowing yourself, who and what you really are, what you can and what not, what you want and what not, then no amount of critiques, be they positive or negative, can harm or affect you. A serene and balanced person will just keep his calm. A profound knowledge of history and philosophy would surely be helpful. But there is nothing like simply and honestly knowing thyself. It gives you the power to look at the truth as it is - truth. And the power to accept facts as they are - facts. Knowing yourself, humbly facing the truth and accepting facts will keep you above all kinds of harshness, cruelty, lovelessness and godlessness. Let others say or think what they want. It will not change the truth and facts.
Frank Woolf November 14th, 2004, 09:56 AM So true. So very true. Well said.
Problems will only get worse if you refuse to see them but if you look at them honestly you can usually do something about them.
invictus November 15th, 2004, 03:41 AM May I just present a simple case of self-analysis or search for one's identity: FRIENDS, WHAT IS GENUINELY AND AUTHENTICALLY "TYPICAL" FILIPINO? Please consider both the pre-hispanic and post-hispanic eras in our history. This question became so relevant and important to me most specially during my twelve years in Europe. Seeing and experiencing the various nationalities, cultures, traditions and noticing the "positive pride as a nation and people" of the Europeans and their respective countries, I had to face the fact that, considering the past and present of our country, it was so difficult to filter out that special something which makes Filipinos Filipinos; that trait or whatsoever it might be which sort of differentiates Filipinos from other peoples of the world. To realize that one cannot easily say, for example, that "that's very British", "that's very Austrian", "that's very French", and so on, brings me to a state of melancholy, but challenges me to find out. There might be an answer. There might be answers, a whole lot of them perhaps. So, again, what is "that's very Filipino"? :R
Blitz November 15th, 2004, 10:49 AM Aha! Magaling ako diyan! Onli Da Filipino spiks Tagalog! Wat sey yu? :O
Two things that set as apart from other people is our jolly and long-suffering attitude. I spoke to two Pinoy teachers this afternoon here in New York. Yes, they're happy that they're here (Stateside eh!) but heck they're having an extremely difficult time with their students. According to them, their students (6th and 7th graders) lack respect of the elders/teachers, highly undisciplined, troublemakers, etc. etc. One student even called one of the teachers an idiot during class! These poor teachers are using every bit of their patience to "survive" each day. One time, a female teacher got a broken lip because a student threw something at her. At the end of each day, these pinoy teachers still manage to smile and continue with their daily tasks in class, or should I say, torture. (I'm sure there are other schools where these things don't happen and where other Pinoy teachers are in a better environment.)
To me, it doesn't matter what other people say against us. We will survive and we will reach our goals. There is one word in Tagalog that sums that up.
Mabuhay! And we will.
jawfree November 15th, 2004, 01:35 PM it's true we are in chaos. but to believe that we don't have any personality or the filipino thing nah..... HOSPITALITY? the PO and OPO?
IGLESIA ni CRISTO comes from the PHILIPPINES, and now in all over the countries.
read this link ( these are the FILIPINO) http://www.kabayan.com/btabaf.htm
and i'm still proud to be...... whatever critics might say....
kaya nga in our national anthem "ANG MAMATAY NG DAHIL SA YO"
botchix November 15th, 2004, 10:40 PM So, again, what is "that's very Filipino"? :R
Simple........
Collectively, you'll define yourself as a member of a race just like every one of us on mother Earth...
As a individual you are how you see yourself. Other's thoughts of who or what you are are irrelevant, because you live your life nobody else is doing it for you!

Roy350 November 18th, 2004, 10:37 PM happy people , that is very filippino
invictus November 18th, 2004, 11:11 PM Thank you for all the generous replies to my query: What is typical Filipino in the context of pre-hispanic and post-hispanic era (See Thread: Just read and say your point). I posted this question for researches in anthropological and socio-cultural & historcial analysis of the 21st century Filipinos to be used (or not used) in activities like publications and/or as guest-lecturer/professor both here and abroad. I am confident that many of us members of this Forum, who have seen and experienced other cultures and peoples, in the first place our Moderator Sir Frank, will understand the significance of my simple question or query. Experience taught me that observant foreigners who were embedded in the culture(s) and tradition(s) of other peoples tend to give a very pointed and yes, quite accurate answer to this question. In a few weeks time, I will be (unfortunately) less active in this Forum for purposes related to my profession. But I must say as early as now that one month in your respected Forum was not merely interesting but quite enriching. The members are not only from all over the Philippines but international. I will miss this Forum. Sir Frank, I thank you so much for enabling the young and old of this small world to participate in a serious and decent Forum such as this. I hope and wish that you will go on despite some undue messages and comments from a few. To all of you, specially Wolver888 and Enzo, I have enjoyed your "company". I will post this message to all the threads that I have subscribed to, just to express my appreaciation and gratitude. Vielen Dank! :) :) :)
N.B.
I would be most glad and thankful if more will give a few of their precious times in sharing their honest opinions or giving fresh and new impulses.

apollo 11 mission on the moon would have failed, if not for this lone filipino scientist who invented the moon buggy and also 1 of the top scientist in the star wars project of the former reagan administration.
it's also a filipino who invented that cheap ethernet card that will connect your pc to a network.
these are some finest things that filipinos have contributed to the world.

Salamat po sa napakagandang mensahe ninyo. Gabay na sa buong buhay ang inyong mga salita.
Jacqueline February 9th, 2006, 06:45 AM It doesn’t surprise me that there are still people out there who take pleasure in trying to humiliate the people of an entire cultural structure. Why would anybody be compelled to do something like this, and most importantly, how can we address these attacks and how can we protect ourselves and our families from this sort of ignorance?
First, we should understand the dynamics of a racist belief. Racism discriminates against an ethnic minority in order to maintain power (to maintain advantages and secure benefits) and is competitive in nature. A person who discriminates usually feels threatened by the race they are discriminating against. Entertaining stereotypical ideas gives us a sense of self-worth and is usually a result of a limited education concerning social and ethical matters.
In this particular case, it seems that art bell or whoever is responsible for this post, values cultures that flourish economically due to their advancements and contributions to society in technology, architecture and the arts. His idea of the Filipino culture threatens what he thinks is held as a higher standard. He believes that Americans mixing with Filipinos would somehow degenerate the great American establishment which is clear in his opening statement: “As we’ve all come to notice, in the past few decades, Filipinos have begun to infest the United States like some sort of disease.” His fear limits his ability to see the situation for what it truly is.
Let us address the points he made in rationalizing his racist beliefs.
1)Their extensive involvement in the U.S. Armed Forces is proof of the trashy kind of qualities all Filipinos tend to exhibit on a regular basis.
Asians/Pacific Islanders are generally underrepresented in the U.S. Armed Forces with the exception of Navy enlistment where Guamanians and Filipinos are far above parity.
www.arthurhu.com/index/amilit.htm
How is this considered to be extensive involvement? How is this trashy?
2) You can see this clearly by studying the attitudes and cultural icons of most Filipino Americans.
Let’s have a look at the attitudes and cultural icons of most Filipino Americans. Hmmm…where to start.
Seeming that I don’t know most Filipino Americans, this is quite a daunting task. If anybody has insight into any researches or studies that have been conducted on Filipino Americans that would shed any light onto what the hell this guy is talking about, please feel free to share it with the rest of us.
Until then I can only assume that this man is so narrow-minded as to perceive any unpleasant personal experience he may have had with (a) Filipino American(s) significant enough to degrade an entire race.
3) Are they really Asian? Well we’ve come to accept the fact the Filipinos come from a part of the world known as SouthEast Asia. But the term “Asia” is used in the wrong way. You may notice that contemporary Filipino Americans try very hardto associate themselves with groups that we know as Asian. I can not count the number of times I have seen a “Third World” Filipino try to connect themselves with groups that we know as Asian. There is no connection and here’s why. The Philippines is a THIRD WORLD COUNTRY.
How can you use the term Asia in the wrong way.
There are disputes as to whether Filipinos are considered Asian or Pacific Islanders but to set things clear…
As sited on Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pacific_Islands) :
The Pacific Ocean has an estimated 20, 000 to 30, 000 islands; the exact number has not been precisely determined. These islands are also sometimes collectively called Oceania (although Oceania usually also includes Australia), and are traditionally grouped into three: (1) Melanesia, (2) Micronesia, and (3) Polynesia.
Melanesia means black islands. These include New Guinea (the largest Pacific island, which is divided into the nation of Papua New Guinea and the Indonesian province of Irian Jaya), New Caledonia, Vanuatu, Fiji, and the Solomon Islands
Micronesia means small islands. These include the Marianas, Guam, Wake Island, Palau, the Marshall Islands, Kiribati, Nauru, and the Federated States of Micronesia.
Polynesia means many islands. These include New Zealand, the Hawaiian Islands, the Midway Islands, Samoa, American Samoa, Tonga, Tuvalu, the Cook Islands, French Polynesia, and Easter Island.
There are also many other islands located within the boundaries of the Pacific Ocean, but these are not considered part of Oceania. These islands include the Galapagos Islands of Ecuador; the Aleutian Islands in Alaska; the Russian islands of Sakhalin and Kuril Islands; the island nation of Japan, which includes the Ryukyu Islands; Taiwan; the Philippines; the South China Sea Islands; and most of the islands of Indonesia. However, it should be noted that the inhabitants of these islands are not considered to be Pacific Islanders and are usually identified with their nearest continent.
4) Nothing respectable has EVER been created by Filipino people during our entire human history.
For lists of notable Filipino Americans please visit http://www.filipinoweb.com/notable.html or http://www.bookhaus.com/achieve2.html
5) They have an enormously perverted affection for Japanese cars. It’s a common phenomenon. In their minds, these Filipinos somehow believe that they are Asian and it somehow connects them to Japanese people and Japanese cars. They often take credit for the ingenuity of Japanese people and say how it’s an “Asian thing”. Thisterm…”Asian thing” derived directly from African American slang “blackthang”. “It’s a black thang.” “It’s an Asian thang.” You can see the connection.
Where does this man come from and how old is he? It almost seems like he is in high school or fresh out of high school and somehow in some sort of delusion that his classmates represent the Filipino American culture. I know many Filipino Americans and I don’t know a single one to be a Japanese car fanatic. And I have never used or have heard another Filipino American say “It’s an Asian thang.” I did hear it once before when relating to my good friend from Detroit that I always remove my shoes when entering a person’s house. She said, “Oh, it must be an Asian thang.”
Is this really a phenomenon? I can’t speak for the younger generation and am curious as to what other people have to say about this.
6) It’s even funnier than that, in Japan, Filipinos are heavily discriminated against. The only Filipinos that can live successfully in Japan are the Filipino prostitutes. But that’s the case for most Filipino people no matter where they live in the world.
Oh, this is very funny. Hah, hah.
Filipinos are not the only ones being discriminated against in Japan (or in the US, or in Europe…). We all discriminate.
Japanese people favour fair skin. It is a part of their beautiful culture. I can respect this and even admire it although I am a dark person. Some Japanese people fear what it might be like to be dark, to not be favoured and will discriminate against other dark skinned Japanese as a result. So in this respect, not only are Filipinos being discriminated against by the Japanese, so are the dark skinned Japanese.
Out of all the American Filipinos I know, none of them have or are stripping, posing nude in magazines, or prostituting. I do, however, know many American strippers, many American nude models, and a few American prostitutes. Two of my closest American friends stripped and posed nude. I can’t even say that I know a Mexican stripper or even an African American stripper.
I don’t know a single Filipino American, besides a few housewives, that isn’t working for a living like any other responsible person. They are respectful citizens living successful lives. I do however know many Americans that are on welfare struggling with drug addiction and no motivation.
Should I assume that since I only know American strippers, American nude models, American prostitutes and American drug addicts and since all of the Filipino Americans that I know are respectful citizens, that Filipino Americans are better than Americans? No.
We are simply people. We all have advantages and disadvantages over each other. Some come with the handicaps of poverty in the neighbourhood across town or a whole country half a world away. Some disadvantages will wipe out the hope of millions. And the people I believe are in the worst condition of all are the ones who will kick the weak while they are down, like this man does with his hate and need to suppress others to make himself feel superior.
7) Now we’ve come down to this fact…and it is a fact.
As sited on Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philippines) under Demographics:
The citizens of the Philippines are called Filipinos. According to recent genetic researches, Filipinos are primarily of Taiwanese aboriginal origin admixed in various degrees with Southern Chinese, Polynesian, and Spanish [1], [2], [3]. Filipinos are divided into 12 major ethnolinguistic groups. Of these, the three most numerous are the Tagalogs, Cebuanos, and the Ilocanos. The Negritos or Aetas, also known as the aboriginal inhabitants of the Philippines, were largely displaced by the invading Austronesian-speaking migrants, and are today thought to number less than 30, 000 people (0.03%).
Mestizos, those of mixed race, form a tiny (1% to 2%) but economically and politically important minority. A recent genetic study by Stanford University, however, indicates that 1.5% of the population has at least some European ancestry. [4]
The three largest foreign minorities consist of the ethnic Chinese, Americans, and South Asians. The remaining foreign population consists of other smaller foreign nationality groups, including Spaniards, other Europeans, Arabs, Indonesians, Koreans, Japanese, and other Asian immigrants.
Because of the vast number of native ethnolinguistic groups, the Philippines is said to be one of the most ethnically diverse countries in Asia. In recent decades, the government has worked to make the country more culturally homogeneous. However, many are against these governmental activities, which are perceived as attempts by some ultra-nationalists to eradicate cultural diversity in place of a homogenous, Tagalog-dominated "nationalistic" Filipino identity. A recent manifestation of this can be seen in the complaints of many provinces that "Imperial Manila" dominates, oppresses, and exploits the people and resources of the rest of the country.
8) Try visiting a young filipino’s web site too. You’ll see something called the “Asian IRC Ring”. It has to do with chatrooms. The most horrible thing about this is that these TRASHY people are trying to associate themselves with Asia again!! People in Asia don’t act like, this at all. What we are seeing here is the natural Filipino in it’s element with full access to technology and this is how they act! You will consistently see this behaviour over and over again.
Another interesting thing is that these “thirdworld” people also frequent RC chatrooms such as..chinese..japan and..asian. They must believe that they are some how related racially or culturally to North Asians. But it’s completely WRONG! There might have been some distant contact with China and even less with Japan during World War II, but these people are actually more closely related to African Americans and Mexican Americans.
Do the parents of these young Filipinos know what’s going on? Would they accept this? I believe that they would and do. This is the natural “Trash” element in Filipinos manifesting itself. Nothing good has ever come from Philippines and I don’t believe anything good ever will.
Okay, this is just getting too dumb. Maybe he is paranoid schizophrenic?
11) Recognizing your Roots (A Message to Filipinos)
To all filipino people:Please recognize your ROOTS! You come from the Third World! You country is a disgusting and filthy place. Most people there live in poverty! Your culture has MUCH MORE SPANISH influence than chinese, and absolutely no JAPANESE influence whatsoever. People in Japan and China, do not act like you. You have no concept of culture...no concept of asian ideas or asian philosophy! Can you demonstrate how you use Confucianism or Taoism in you everyday life?? You can't. And you will NEVER be able to. I
understand that you are trying to create an identity for yourselves as young people... but it is NOT related to Asia.
You are right in understanding that Filipino Americans are going through an identity crisis.
As sited on Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Filipino_Americans) under 21 Century Challenges – Identity Crisis
When people speak of Asian Americans, they tend to identify that label with Chinese American or Japanese American, but seldom Filipino Americans. This is partly due to the lack, or invisibility in representation, of Filipino American role models in the wider community and media, despite being the second-largest Asian American group in the United States. Sociologists have used the label of "Invisible Minority" to indicate the identity crisis of the Filipino American community. Many Filipino American groups campaign to increase Filipino American consciousness by promoting unique accomplishments and talents.
In June of 2002, Philippine President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and representatives of U.S. President George W. Bush presided over the grand opening and dedication of the Filipino Community Center in Waipahu, Hawai'i. It is the largest Filipino American institution in the United States, with the goal of preserving Filipino American history and culture.
Here’s an idea for the man responsible for this crap:
How about you learn more about Filipinos and their roots before you publicly make a jack-ass out of yourself!
Jacqueline February 9th, 2006, 06:46 AM And for the sake of your children, to protect them from this type of ignorance that could harm them, educate them about their cultural background. Talk to them about stereotypes, about racism and discrimination. Explain the economy of the Philippines, how it affects the culture and the changes being made to ensure improvement. Support Filipino artists. And most importantly share the wonderful values Filipinos are widely known for.
