anong coolest? coolest as in astig o coolest na malamig di mainit na mesh jacket? basta naman mesh jacket karaniwan mas presko kesa sa hindi.Pinaka presko Bro... Mukhang super presko sya kapag wala yung lining... Mayroon pa kayang ibang Brand/Manufacturer aside from Joe Rocket (mahal kasi eh.) na may mesh na super presko?

TIA :)

I always wondered if those mesh jackets would hold up in a spill or a crash. coz of the materials and the paddings are soft. Any comments or experience on this? Thanks. I plan to buy a mesh type jacket too for phils coz' it's hot there. What would be an ok mesh jacket teknic, joe rocket etc......

I have both the Joe Rocket Phoenix Jacket and the Teknic Mesh Jacket distributed by Jake Swann.

To be perfectly honest, I prefer the Teknic Jacket much more over the Joe Rocket jacket I have (and other Joe Rocket mesh models I've seen).

Basically, the Teknic Jacket has more protection, allows more air to pass through, and leaves you cleaner underneath the jacket. It's a better fit too.

While the Joe Rocket Phoenix jacket may seem like it would allow more air to pass through because of its bigger holes, all it really does is allow more dust to settle on you while you sit in traffic or ride the polluted streets of the city. It's also heavier than the Teknic jacket.

All in all, both jackets are great buys. The most important thing about getting a mesh jacket for the Philippines is it eliminates the excuse of thinking twice about wearing the proper protection on your ride. Just remember that these jackets provide less protection than full leather jackets or suits, and thus, your riding should also be proportionally toned down.

Ride Safe!

Sir, mainit! :W
IMHO, it's for COLD weather only. Not suitable for the Phils except maybe in Baguio on a cold January morning...

I have a Teknik mesh jacket, which I absolutely loathe. It looks and feels awful and still doesn't really offer much cooling unless you leave the front zipper open. The material is light and the armour relatively heavy so it flops everywhere when you try to put it on. At a drinks stop my mates are togged up and revving their engines with impatience while I'm still fumbling trying to get the thing on. The pockets are useless. They are so angled that they lose anything you put in them, and if you zip them up, the zips are almost impossible to unzip with gloves on (toll booths etc). I couldn't recommend it to anyone. Perhaps one good thing is you can chuck it in the washing machine to get the traffic crap and sweat out of it after a ride.

The reason I stick with it is the armour for longer rides, and until I can afford a genuine lightweight leather one with mesh inserts from Harley Davidson's (expensive) catalogue. (Note to Santa Claus -- I asked for this last year and I'm still waiting :( )

I don't know about the other brands of mesh jacket which may be better but I'd never have another Teknik. :g

The biggest name it seems is Joe Rocket. Looking through their website, I think the Phoenix is most appropriate. I have two mesh jackets. One is an RS Taichi I bought from scooter123 (thanks ha!) and a JR Rocket Phoenix 3.0. They're both cool to wear but I like the RS Taichi more because it feels better when worn, and it has chest armor (although soft ones) which the Joe Rocket Phoenix doesn't have. When I wear the Phoenix I feel like a mutant ninja turtle  :O

I ride in temps from 80 to over 100 degrees but I refuse to wear any "mesh" jackets. They may keep you cooler, but they are worthless in terms of protection in the event of a get off. You might as well were a t-shirt.

For extremely warm temps, I use my Vanson fully-perforated leather jacket. Vanson costs a bit more and because of the leather, may be a bit warmer but it is absolutely the best quality gear next to Dainese (even better at times). I also have a Dainese fully-perfed jacket as well, but my Vanson is more effective in channeling the air through the jacket. Works great and I am comforted by the protection it provides in case of a crash.

In my opinion, mesh is not worth the money. Good luck.

i wore a joe rocket phoenix mesh jacket and a pair of phoenix riding pants when i t-boned a tricycle that u-turned into my path in late 2003. i was accelerating pretty hard to shift from first to second gear when i hit it. the impact was strong enough to land the tricycle on its side with the motorcycle on top of the cab. i flew over my bike's handlebars and landed on the pavement a few meters away. i think that i even bounced off the tricycle before i ended up on the pavement. the only injury i sustained was a sore butt. the jacket and pants were not damaged and the gear (including an arai helmet and joe rocket sonic riding boots) saved me from serious injury.

i'm interested in the joe rocket phonenix 4.0 jacket

this is because i'll be using the jacket for short rides from home to office & occational trips to the client about 15km away from the office.

for long rides though (haven't done yet) would probably prefer a leather jacket :-)

anybody here selling the product, pls PM me.

If you are looking for really "cool" mesh jackets, I can recommend the Komine JK-409 and JK-410 models because they don't have inner liners so it makes the jacket very lightweight. Price is also very cheap.

But if you value protection above all, I can say that the RS Taichi High Protection mesh jacket is one of the most techinical products in the market. It features racing armors (shoulder, elbow, back), very tough mesh fabrics (try comparing it w/ other brands/models), and additional foam support throughout the jacket. Also has several velcro straps for better fit and a pocket on the right lower arm for highway tickets.

Hi,

Komine Riva Mesh Jacket costs 5800 each while the Komine Cool Mesh Jacket costs 4500.

Komine Flame mesh jacket is on special offer at 5000 pesos only but we only have 1-2 pcs at Motoworld.

For knee/shin protectors, we don't have SK-457 in stock anymore but we do have Pole Position knee guards starting at 1100 only.

I have to disagree. My buddies (including Stormrider) and myself had some incidents with an armored mesh jacket on. It saved us from serious injury and was very much pleased of its performance under such situations.

So, I'd say... its actually your money's worth.

Ryan's Komine and RS Taichi Jackets and knee/shin protectors at Action Hobbies are worth your considerations. Caloocan Sales also sells Joe Rocket items.

Ride safe!

I've read the reviews regarding Joe Rocket Phoenix 3.0 and I believe that this is the jacket that I need.

These are the 3 JR jackets that I'm looking for, if anyone knows how much is the price today and where I can buy it, I would appreciate it. TIA :punk:

1. JR Phoenix 3.0?
2. JR Rio?
3. JR Phoenix 2.0?

If price were no object, the BMW "Venting Machine" suit, IMHO, is the coolest. Like their ad says, it really feels like a t-shirt. The material is a really tough open weave and protection is, well, what you'd expect from the brand.

While your skin should be safe, your wallet won't be. Costs the same as 2-3 "other" jackets though. :(
