I was wondering kung meron combination ng gasmask + balaclava .... hmmm...

I have allergies and sinus propblems.

If wear a mask it helps a bit. Even if its just a hankerchief over the nose and mouth. the masks they sell at pharmacies is also good.

Wear a mask and bandana or balaclava and u wont have to clean the inside of ur helmet as much :)

How abuot those good looking black masks that I see around on motorcycle riders that just cover the mouth and nose area? I see them often. Does anyone know where to find them? Are they available in most bike shops? Thanks.

I think all bikers should wear filter masks especially in Metro Manila! It's no joke to have chronic lung disease and breathing problems. One could just imagine the volume of pollution coming from dilapidated vehicles (read: 99% of all PUVs, SUVs, trucks, and tricycles). Try riding with a white hanky tied to your face in your nose and mouth and after a 30 minute ride you'll see how black it is. Now multiply that by the number of times your ride and voila! Instant impurity delivered right to your nostril. :vomit:

I travel around 50 kms a day and I don't forget to wear a balaclava and at least a disposable dust filter mask (which you can buy at most hardware shops in malls @ arond P25 each; it lasts around 5 days) or even a cheap bandana wrapped around your face bandit style :W (it's about P25 also in PureGold Cubao, but this you have to wash at the end of the day). These are cheap alternatives to the real riding filter masks, but they're better than nothing.

I've seen and tried on the Makoto brand but I feel that it's too expensive considering the material and non-replaceable/unwashable filter. There are other brands like HJC but they're way too expensive for the average biker (like me & you). But it all boils down to preference and your lungs. :R

bro makoto maybe a bit expensive as we may think for a mask and uve mentioned its non replaceable/washable filter? i think it can be replace by an ordinary cotton inside the 2 holes thats what im using now...

Hi Clutch,
for the meantime, you can use the 3m masks that they sell at mercury or any drug storte. Just remove the straps. I've been using that for close to 4 months already, it's effective and darned cheaper to replace.

Really wouldn't want to gamble with my lungs specially during rush hour.
