First and foremost I would like to thank everyone here. Now let me get straight to this topic.

I have posted a topic here once before about Smoked vs Iridium shields for helmets hoping to find an answer as to which one is the better for all-around use, but to no avail. Obviously both types of shields passed the daytime test, but both failed the nighttime and rain tests.

I conclude that both Smoked and Iridium shields are dark and are suitable only for daytime use.

In my continued research I have found a way to actually make a shield suitable for both daytime and nighttime use. I call it the "eyelid" for visor. The trick is to use a clear shield, while covering the upper half of it with either a dark tint or a solid color.

The upper half of the shield that is covered would serve as the sunshade for your eyes during daytime rides. While the lower half of the shield that is clear would give you the clarity you need during nighttime or wet rides.

Well I guess that's a simple solution to a long standing problem. Just a thought. Thanks to your time for reading this and God bless. :)
