What does this mean to our lids? Homolgation is the approved safety rating based on where the helmet is used.

ECE 22-05 helmet use approved for European countries
BSI 6658:1985 A helmet use approved for Great Britain
DOT helmet use approved for U.S.A and Canada
QAS helmet use approved for Australia and New Zealand
INMETRO NBR 7471 helmet use approved for Brazil
JIS helmet use approved for Japan
SNELL M2000 helmet use approved for U.S.A

of the countries you've mentioned...some have government agencies and /or private agencies that put helmets to the several tests..which may include impact and penetration tests...some would even include testing the helmet for noise level and the quality of the visor.

though most of these tests are identical for the said coutries...certification differ based on the agency that tested the helmet...

Nice post TS.

Hope someone can also follow-up with the testing procedures and standards for each of the safety rating institutions.

I think someone posted a topic similar to what you mentioned. Just can't remember the title of the thread.
