anyone here wears glasses during their ride? I actually wear contact lenses but I haven't gone to a much higher speed so I don't know if my lenses could be blown off by the wind or something, anyway of preventing this or should'nt I worry about it?

I always wear glasses, most specially at night when lights are blurry when I don't wear them. On long rides, I would usually wear contact lenses. If you're wearing one, always make sure your visors are down when in motion to keep those unwanted dirt going into your eyes. Happened to me once and it was really painful!

On occassional short rides (a trip down to the sari-sari store or doing errands) I wear my glasses. Glasses made of plastic lenses with thin and ultra-flexible frames works with me to easily stick into that space between your helmet pads and ears.

Yeah, I've had one of those 'puwing' while wearing my contacts, it does hurt >_<. But do you think it'd get blown off at high speeds?

Dredd

Never had my contacts blown off by the wind even at high speeds...my visors are always down. If they're up it may move but doesn't get blown off. The problem is it might dry up because of the wind blowing into your face...and that is a little painful too...

i think one shouldn't wear contact when riding a bike. you don't wanna find out how it's like if it does gets blown off. i wear this affordable shadeds i bought at sport house. it comes with a clip for Rx lenses.

I've been wearing soft contacts for twenty some years now. I wear a clear glass inside my full face. If I don't, the lenses gets really dirty and dry. Although I have never experienced a blown away contacts during a ride. I always bring my full kit like a spare lense, a small solution bottle, the container and an antibiotic drops just in case my eyes gets infected with some germs and it turns red. :O but I never used those eye drops it's always my fellow riders who uses half face helmets with no shields or clear eye glasses that uses it :I

Mahirap kasi if everytime I ride I need to take off my contacts, wear my prescription glasses and put on my contacts again after the ride... I think I'd just put the visor down. Or maybe start looking for clear rider glasses to protect my contacts, masyado kasi mainit with my visor on.

exactly... hassle nga eh if you're gonna wear contact lenses on rides. medyo prone to accidents din kasi you will have to keep your eyes closed pag napuwing. so why risk it?

the best talaga is to have your eyes lasered para 20/20 vision. My brother who's also a motorcyclists had his eyes lasered and has been enjoying the good vision. Cost is around 60 thousand but it's worth it.

hey pongkie! bought mine at "sport house" in sm megamall. i forgot how much, P1,000 yata with the Rx lenses inserts na yun. tapos, another 200 plus for the Rx lenses.

here's how it looks like from behind with the Rx lens clipped on. another pic showing the front with the Rx lens clip-on removed. another pic is me wearing the shades. dark enough para di diyahe even if you decide to ride to infanta naked (pic edited to cover dangling parts)...

i use exactly the same "kontrol" brand eyewear and works fine with me. the flexible earpiece or i think it is called a temple band or something... is very convenient to put on even with a balaclava.

i got mine from park square toby's.

exactly, it's convenient to put on even with a balaclava! what lens color do you have? i'm planning to get another one. perhaps the amber one for night time use.

it's worth it now you can sleep anytime and go swimming with clear vision.

But there is a 1% probability of a failed laser operation... you could be that 1% ....forever blind ka na

Well, I could use one of those clear shades but I'd like to keep my contacts in there ... at least my head would be cool with my visor up.

I dunno about laser surgery, I don't have that kind of money yet :D

Hi pongkie_shawie,

Which mall or store can we avail of this product? I wear prescription glasses. So this would be good for my rides and my tennis games as well.

Thanks...

you can get them at sports shops like tobys at park square 1 mkt, i bought mine at SM Dasmarinas Cavite. for the prescription glass you have to go to
the optical shop as follows : gelshock shade 990k, rx frame 200k,(tobys) / prescription lens 250k (optical shop) :C :C :C

if you're gonna use it for motorcycling, you wont need a nose to clip it on anyways. you have to stick it inside your helmet naman eh. the space between your head and the helmet insides will keep it in place.

czrocker,
at its cheap price, maghahanap ka pa ng scratch-proof case? c'mon dude.

these pair of shades served me well in the purpose i intended it to do. i might buy another pair, yung clear ones, for night riding naman.

I bought an ordinary clear glasses from i2i instead, it's fiber glass so it won't shatter and blind me just in case ... it protects my contact lenses really well at night, but my only problem with it is that it fogs up whenever I breathe through my balaclava ... fades away after I sped off though.

gentlemen riders!

with global warming, bush administration deadma and all, we are getting unimaginably rainy weather. scr*w bush and everyone who wants us to use more envronmentally-harmful fuel than we need to!! give them the finger as we keep on riding our bikes to earn our keep.

but...

how do we address lens fogging both on the eyewear and the helmet shields?

has anyone successfully solved the problem?

i had to pull my balaclava down off my nose to be able to see while riding through traffic-choked edsa yesterday afternoon in the poring rain. got very dry throat this morning and suspect it was from all the impurities i had to imbibe. (edsa is usually a no-no for me at that time of the day but after suffering through flooded mandaluyong, san juan and quezon city side streets, one other really wet afternoon about a week ago, i decided edsa would be lesser evil.)

lifting the fogged shield up (already with rain droplets that defy gravity and stay there) then allows more droplets to get to my eyewear instead. the droplets are literally the other 'side' of the problem

then it is low visibility with oncoming headlights or even breaklights of vehicles in front of you. taking off my eyewear isn't much of an option for an old fogey, you see!

yup, the contact lens is an option but it seems easier to put on eyewear, i think. my optometrist probably makes more money on my prescription glasses so warns me against using contacts.

jeepney drivers, i heard, splash laundry detergent on their windshields (the better to see who they are cutting, i suppose, so they can avoid drug-lord- military-police-types).

helloooo! the detergent will be a painful b*tch on the eyes! but has anyone tried anything similar with some other 'pampadulas'?

of course tear offs are out of the question as only the valentino rossis can afford them.

any help would be very much appreciated.

Bros,

I recently bought "Fury" shades that also has retractable optical lenses. The case is not scratch proof but is not prone to scratches, looks a bit classy but no belt clips. The case is made of a rubber-like material (which I think made it a bit scratch proof) and has a zipper. The price is between P1200 - P1500 depending on the model. I chose the light brown color lenses and able to use them day or night. Am using a half shelf helmet and wear the shades outside the balaclava.

On the issue of raindrops, a friend adviced me to use "rainaway" - I think a product used on windshields. Haven't tried them yet though.

id rather have contact lenses........ but if contact lenses naku dapat mag googles or shield ka pa para di ma dry...
ive notice pag night time or twillight?dusk riding- easily dry ang contact lenses dapat mag shield ka pa.... siguro our eyes needs less fluid pag day time at pag night time dry ang eyes kaya masakit poag contact sa gabi

pag eye glases mag kakasabit sabit ang eye glasses mo

i think i need sports Rx frames now... katulad nung gamit ng mga basketball players. not that the kontrol brand is not good, in fact may bagong nice models sila ngayon, experiment lang sana ako sa sport ones. imported ones are expensive but there was this local brand na PBA ang tatak. anybody knows where i can get one?

Hey hardliner,

I dont know if it is just me but I purchased those prescription lenses with clip ons and I find them quite heavy. Also, it left a mark on my nose everytime i remove it because of the weight perhaps. What i did was i just used one of my old frames, put in a good lens and had it tinted-prescription sunglass na siya.;)

laspag na yung akin, which is the typical eyeglass with magnetic clip-on shades. they are a bit heavy (which i'm already used to anyway). what brand are yours and where can i buy them (or see a good variety to choose from)?

i prefer contact lenses over glasses medyo kase nahihirapan ako
lumingon pag may glasses but the downside sa contacts is pag mabilis
na eh natutuyo at masakit sa mata...drop na lng ng solution pag
stop over...
