Is it ok to bring a leatherman pocket tool when I am riding or is it illegal because the blade is almost 3 inches?

Been doing it for more than four years now. The only time I've been asked to deposit it with security was when I flew to Australia 2 years ago (airport security). During my high school and college days, I brought along my Victorinox Champ Swiss knife in my bag everyday. No hassles with the guards because they don't search you for potentially lethal weapons back then. FORZA August 7th, 2004, 01:30 PM I think it's ok. I always brought my swiss army knife when I was riding as part of my tools. I would get stop by the kotong cops it's ok they never said anything about my swiss army knife. It's not like you're only brining a knife and that can be a different story. Just tell them those MF cops that's parts of your tools just incase of emergency etc. Jake August 7th, 2004, 01:45 PM I have a leatherman and wear it all the time. The only time I was asked to remove it was in Malacanang. Aside form that, it was never questioned, whether it be a mall, police station, city hall or a check point. Rage August 7th, 2004, 02:42 PM I also have a couple of Leathermans (Wave, SuperTool II, etc) and Gerber tools and I never had any problem taking 'em along (their case sometimes mistakes 'em for cellfone:D) nikolai August 7th, 2004, 03:10 PM My cop-friends tell me that the rule of the thumb for an illegal blade (one that would get you a possession of a deadly weapon rap) is whe the blade length is more than 4in. long, or typically wider than the breadth of your average palm. It's not illegal to carry the pocket multi-tool types on the road, but for air travel they must, indeed, be treated as checked-in baggage and not as a hand-carried (or on-board) item. Brian dungo August 8th, 2004, 12:35 PM I went to the party last night at Ratsky w my cousin and his boy. I was not allowed to bring in my leatherman hehehehe, tough luck for me. Anyway good thing we also brought a back up car sa i left the multi tool there. :O fedaplus August 9th, 2004, 09:57 AM same sentiments here Brian dungo. Mine & my bros. Victorinox was requested not to be brought inside Ratsky's that night. Was forced to leave them in our bikes... Wolver888 August 18th, 2004, 03:01 AM Its a perfectly handy all around tool whenever needed. I had mine coz of the MacGyver series in the 80's. :D .... and a leatherman pocket tool's way better. :) Its not illegal to bring em. Willard_cy August 18th, 2004, 04:30 AM I have always a gerber on my side,i think its ok naman for emergency use... |
