View Full Version : Buying Bike Gear - Jackets
Loverboy181 July 28th, 2008, 07:05 PM I'm in Manila for 1 day, Marbini St, and then in Angeles City for a week more.
Where is a good place to buy bike apparel.
I have nothing but a helmet, so gloves and a decent jacket would be a good start.
Im just hiring a bike to get about on during my trip.
Thanks for your help
Regards
Jeff

motoworld in MOA or Trinoma
Loverboy181 July 28th, 2008, 07:22 PM MOA i gather is Mall Of Asia?
Im stopping in Manila on the way home as well, and visiting there with my wife and her friend was on our agenda.
Will give me something to do then.
Thanks

broker218 July 28th, 2008, 07:24 PM What zeus17 meant by MOA was Mall Of Asia.
Did you mean Mabini St. in Ermita? MOA will be nearer than Trinoma (which is in Quezon City).
Just hop on a cab and ask the driver to take you to MOA, tell him to pass Roxas Blvd and the Cultural Center (that way, he thinks you know where you are going and hopefully will not try to fool you by goin in circles). The trip will take about 30 minutes in moderate traffic.

Loverboy181 July 29th, 2008, 08:15 AM Thanks for your help guys.
I have passed MOA before coming and going to the airport.
I've had my battles with the taxi's, especially in regards to the meters not going on. This time I have 2 Filipina's with me, so at least I have an interpreter for the pesky ones.
Other than that, I hope the weather is fine for a few weeks otherwise my bum is gunna get wet.
All the best

Jeff
GUNDAM168 July 29th, 2008, 10:19 AM What items are you looking for in particular? You can check out Motoworld's website before you haul your @$$ over there to find out they don't have what you're looking for.
Their site is here http://www.motoworldph.com/home.htm
Where'd you hire your bike and what bike is it?
Hercules July 29th, 2008, 10:49 AM Thanks for your help guys.

Loverboy181 July 29th, 2008, 11:29 AM Hi,
Thanks for the website.
I've hired a XLR 200 for 11 days to get around Angeles City and surrounding areas.
Cost was 420p a day.
For the next 7 days Ive hired a Honda Super 4 to travel further afield.
I hire from Nice - Bikes. Have used them before and the bikes are in excellant condition and service friendly.

Hercules July 29th, 2008, 11:39 AM Yup. I am a friend of Rolando of Nicebikes. He purchased a couple of bikes from me. All of his bike are in good condition and ready for your ride.
I hope you enjoy enjoy to Philippine touring and ride safe my friend. :D
Loverboy181 July 29th, 2008, 11:46 AM Hi Herc,
I wish the guys decided to do their Bicol bike ride on the earlier date, as I was going to try and hook up with them. Unfortunately, I leave for home the week they go on their adventure.
My plan is to leave Angeles City in the morning, travelling through Porac, Florida Blanca, Dunilopitan and onto Subic.
I have some friends in Barrio Berreto who I would like to say hello to, so a stop over there for a beer or 10 is probably my first day.
From there Im going to Iba. I understand it's only a few hours up the road, so maybe I will have lunch there, a look around and continue.
My aim is to get to Bolinao and Patar by the second night but its not set in concrete.
If I enjoy what Iba has to offer, it is stop there and move the next day.
After Bolinao, I intend to go to Lingayen to visit the war memorial. From there up to La Union and probably stay there for night 3/4.
Next day to Vigan. A guy lives there that lived 2 doors down from me so I thought I might do a surprise visit if he is home.
Stay the night there and look around and then start the trip home.
All in all I will be away for 6 or 7 days.
My wife has the memorial for her late father on the 18th August, so I said I would be back for that.
I know the weather is not going to be good, which no doubt will hinder a few things I have planned, but Ive got wet weather gear with me so hopefully I will be ok.
It's my first bike trip away after scoring my license here earlier and Im looking forward to it, but nervous not knowing what to expect.
If the wife decides to come ( they don't seem to like to cut the umbilical cord do they :) ) then Im right for all tagalog negociations but hopefully common sense will prevail and she will spend the time with her family instead of trying to look after me.
Shhesh Im such a big boy now lol
All the best mate and if your going to be somewhere along the road let me know and one else for that matter.
I will check the website here and post my mobile number when I get a sim card.
Leaving Angeles City August 11th.
Regards
Jeff
GUNDAM168 July 29th, 2008, 01:48 PM Not a good idea for foreigner to post his itinerary on an online forum.

That's a great route. You surely planned and kno well where you're going.
Have fun and enjoy the Philippines. Let's see if there is a chance we can meet up.
BTW, the Bolinao route is good roads with some "good and leveled backroads". It's manageable for a 400cc bike.
here's my mobile number just in case 09209134580
Loverboy181 July 29th, 2008, 07:48 PM Herc,
have your number. Will ring you before I leave. Hope its not a washout :)
Isn't Rolands girlfriend / wife a goer? She works her butt off and cheerful lady to boot.
Gave me a rainy weather discount last trip. Really nice of her when she didnt have to do it.
Gundam,
I guess Im just too trusting.
Perhaps I will do it in reverse now. Freeway to Subic and straight to La Union.
Hopefully nothing will come of my posting though.

Jeff
