Jim Paredes has turned out to be a prolific writer. He's a finalist in an Asian blogging awards body. Jim now contributes to Inquirer. It was Martial Law when I got to HS and we all were very affected because we all had to crew-cut our hair. By the way, those of you who know Mr. Ansay of GS can say a little prayer for his recovery in the USA from an open heart procedure. Still can't believe Katipunan flooded. If I remember right, there are two creeks from Gate 3 and Maryknoll that merge in EAPI, going alongside Moro Lorenzo gym and the soccer field. Binaha ba HS? I can imagine the overflow passing down the Jesuit's Residence sunken garden. The rock garden must have flooded too. Wide_Load October 9th, 2009, 08:55 AM Needless to say, I'm an avid fan of the Apo. Have all (to the best of my knowledge) their albums, including a personally dedicated and autographed one. hehehe. I also used to buy Pidro t-shirts. :D I can imagine how crew cut hair may have sounded at that time. Surely you remember Mr. (Bungo) Selorio? :D :D I too, rebelled against the handbook specs, though nowadays, I usually sport the crew cut again. Couldn't believe the place flooded either. In retrospect, I may have been a "localized accumulation" only since I figured, isn't the school ( at least the Grade School) just at the rim overlooking Marikina? Why, the Marikina valley practically had to be filled to the brim before the GS flooded. Or was it? Happy, happy memories! I did a quick search and got dozens of links to Mr. Selorio. I guess he was more popular and touched many more lives than I thought. He was even a professor to my uncle (class 60 something) and was well known to my father (class 50 something), both Ateneo Alumni. Both these gentlemen were my teachers. Mr. Abando and I even used to discuss skydiving every opportunity we could. "Note: Mr. Roberto "Bert" M. Selorio (MA'76) passed away on March 9, 2008, at the age of 82. He was on the Ateneo de Manila Grade School faculty from 1950 to 1990. He His wife Rita and son Roberto Jr. (GS'78, HS'82, Col'86) are both Ateneo de Manila Grade School faculty members. Mr. Joseph A. Abando passed away on February 28, 2008 in El Cerrito, California, USA, at the age of 68. After his stint at the Ateneo Grade Schoo, he taught at St. John School in San Lorenzo, California."
