is it advisable to wear knee brace, like the one used im moto X, under leathers? will it affect the movement of the knee during cornering with the knee touching the tarmac? EVS and Asterisk knee braces are popular among motocrossers and off-roaders. I'm thinking maybe I can also benefit from that kind of protection even though I'm riding on the road.

I take it your pants is not a riding pants.....

i suppose you can wear it UNDER yoru pants (if it will fit), but dont you rather scrape the braces instead of the more expensive leather,(proper leather doesnt scruff easy though)...

ride safe :)

"scruff" in tagalog is "batok", the back part of your neck

the problem you'll have is if your pants have built in armor... the braces may interfere with the fit of the armor on your knee...

from what i remember, knee braces (cti) are adjust to fit by an ortho... i was forced to wear one back in 2000 when had right knee problems...

are the off-the-shelf stuff any good???

as for scraping them, darned things are too expensive to just scrape on purpose... most go for around 500 usd a pair and can go as high as over 1500 usd per piece... add to that the pf of the ortho who'll fit it for you...

thanx sir boylit.

the knee brace I'm referring to are like the one used by jeremy mcgrath, ricky carmichael and other motocrossers.... and yes they cost around 350 - 500+ usd...... But they can protect your knee againts severe impact, knee twisting and especially againts hyperextension or bending of knee the other way around......... which is sa tingin ko hindi kayang i- provide ng armor lang ng leather pants...lalo na kapag nakasuot ng riding boots..........feeling ko mas vulnerable ang tuhod ko......... and I don't think pwere silang isuot outside the leather because snug fit siya sa leg and calf...........

sir, if you think your knees are vulnerable to twisting and hyperextending, I suggest you do some exercises to strengthen the muscles holding the tendons in your knees. while braces may help, there is no substitute to proper muscle toning.

yap... that's the one i needed to wear when i had my knee problem... got mine on prescription and my ortho set it for me... had to wear it for a few months because my knee couldn't support my body...

note that these things are not comfortable at all... but if you wanna wear em, then go for it... i highly recommend that you go to your ortho to have them set up for you...
