dabiglou
May 7th, 2008, 11:56 AM
Humble P,

Medyo masakit nga sa balikat kase naka racing posture ka kase pag cafe, pero as long as nasanay ka ok na sya, kung long rides hindi advisable yung cafe bike kase nakakapagod kung lagi kang nakayuko, masarap lang talagang gamitin sa curves like in marilaque, sobrang in control ka sa bike. you can do one thing thou, if you're going for a long ride then thats the time you change the handle bar to a western bar rather than having the ace bar attached para up right position ka sa long drive.

Ah. That's a smart tip, sir. Thanks.

Umikot akong Cebu last weekend at andami kong nakitang mga street bike na naka cafe setup. Well, lowered saka racing handlebars, anyway. Nakakatuwa rin e.

Sorry pala Lenin last sunday, di ako nakarating. I texted you that night na hindi ako makarating. Sobra puno lang sched ko talaga that day. Ako kasi President dun, kaya nung nabenta ko na yung Honda Bravo ko, i have to step down as president. Tapos meron pa kaming meeting sa airsoft club ko kasi meron kaming up coming big event. kaya ayun, natali ako. Again, sorry ulit.

The owner is selling it at a cheap price, so i'm planning to get. I consulted my mechanic at sabi nya, tignan nya muna at baka pwedeng kunin sa sinabing presyo.

What made me think of getting it is its clean registration and its potential for a cafe racer conversion. Anyway, cafe racers are mostly customize fairings and cowls, right? And the mechanic told me that the power of the xl125 engine is perfect for cafe racer.

So if time allows me, I might get the bike and make it my project bike. That would be sometime after repainting of my '79 cb750. I need your help on this guys as I don't know any shop that makes cowls, fairings and seat for a cafe racer.

BTW, we're on our fourth part! More power to Vintage Biker Brotherhood.

@Jetzoooms ok lang sir no problem. Pwede pa naman iba weekends eh tsaka di pa din maganda takbo ng cb750 ko nung araw na yun kinalas ko uli carbs nung morning. ngayon bumiyahe kami kahapon sa marilaque 2 scooters kasama ko. Post ko pics later. Parang na corrupt yung pics nung bikes huhuhuu. :{

Just right for a good cafe look and comfort also. :)

Penge isang monkey wakekekeke!:D

Applicable din to sa inyo sir caloy. Ganda ng bike nyo pag natapos. Ride ride ride na! More power to the vinatge bike brotherhood! :) Go go Ton - up Boys manila chapter! :)

Now I'm having second thoughts of buying an old bike or a new one for a cafe racer project. If I'll buy an old one, there will be a lot of headaches and time demands than buying a new bike where I'll be thinking only on the handle bar and the seat. I'm thinking of the new Suzuki Mola GS150 which looks good for a cafe racer conversion.

Will this pass for an authentic cafe racer once the seat and handle bar are changed?

jet Z,

Mola, man that will be a good fame for a cafe bike. if you'll go for it, it will be one hell of a ride.

May 9th, 2008, 10:14 PM
Yeah, I've been thinking about it for a month now. It would certainly be great to have one since it will be a brand new bike so no more problem with rebuilding the engine and restoration. The only thing that needs to be done is mods for seat and handle bar. The good thing about Mola (as a cafe racer project) is its retro design. Did you notice its semblance with the CB750 SOHCs design? A lot of crome parts.

I've been reading the thread about the Mola and found out a drawback. Owners can only push the bike to a meager 110 kph, given its 150cc engine. Not ideal for an authentic cafe racer (which is power and style). I was expecting that it could reach 150 kph max (or a bit less, but not 110 kph). However, some advised a change of sprockets to meet higher top speed. But of course, that would compromise the acceleration.

Anyway, I'm still thinking about it. One hindrance for me now is too many bikes in my garage. I'm no bike collector, I'm just an enthusiast! Very enthusiastic and passionate about bikes that captures my delight. Whether new models or old ones. So if I can sell some, that might be the time when I'd get a Mola. :)

dabiglou
May 9th, 2008, 10:49 PM
did noticed it, well for mods the gys here will gladly help on that. 110kph for a 150cc power plant is slightly low but you can do some tweeks on it like chaging sprockets, re honing the bore, ceramic coating for the piston head, SS316 custom valves, cinvertion to a 6 plated clutch, dynamic balance for the crank and for all of that 150kph will jst be peanuts but it will come with a cost that is not justifable. Jst a thought if i'm gonna get it for a project bike i'll jst change the sprockets which is much cheaper, for the engine being new well i dont want to get any headaches on it by moding it up.

Me too. I am known in my former club to be a "purist", meaning, not wanting to "unvirginized" the "stockness" of a motorcycle. I would also agree with you on the "non-practicality" of engine enhancement, especially on new bikes. And yeah, sprockets are the better idea.

However, there are some drawbacks with it as well....the body frame is relatively small, no ignition switch (electric starter), shifting gears is just like the "underbones"---all downwards.

I was really eyeing on it earlier, until I've noticed the Mola...with bigger fuel tank, electric starter, relatively big body, classic design. ;)

Your ride is one heck of a machine. Really looks nice.

Hi,

Can't help it, when I saw the picture of the 1979 CB750 of Lenin, this brought back alot of memories when I was a kid riding on my dads 1972 CB750.

We are on the stage of restoring the bike after years of neglect. I do need some inputs from you guys, may I ask if you have any idea on the price range of a set of piston rings?

Hope to meet you guys someday.

I have an orignal single seat off from my '79 Honda CB750K/Police Model. It's in good condition. I think it will fit other CB750 from '69 to '82 models. I have no use of it now since I got a used original two-seater seat from ebay. The single seat will be good for cafe racer cb750. Just tell me if someone wants it. I'll give it for afair price :)

sir jet...

been wanting to buy from ebay for the longest time...but i'm always hesitant coz of the risks and shipping cost involved.

how do you go about it?

I have a friend and relatives in the States who order for me. I just search for the items and forward the item number to them. They order and I pay them when someone goes to the States. My sister-in-law is an international stewardess, so when she has a flight to the states, she brings the item with her when she returns back.

I, however, been monitoring the transactions in ebay. It's not so difficult to order. If you have problems with the seller, you can ask for a refund and give a negative feedback. One thing you should always be aware of is his feedback. You would not order from low-rated seller in ebay or risk being mugged. I think, you'll be safe using paypal. One biggest problem for us is the shipping and shipping cost. Most seller don't ship outside the U.S. And if so, shipping cost doubles or triples the price. I haven't tried ordering though, for the reason that I don't have a single credit card - - - I don't want to be trapped in a "credit hole."
