View Full Version : All about modular helmet
roadstar April 18th, 2008, 01:38 PM na-obserbahan ko po halos lahat nakita kung bigbike riders dito sa amin were using zeus (made in taiwan) or hjc (made in korea) modular helmets. one time i was shopping for an extra helmet, sinubokan ko mag-fit ng hjc modular helmet... naiisip ko, ano kaya kung masira ang lock nito, ano kaya mangyari, 'di ko siguro matangal ang helmet sa ulo ko :D ... here's my question:
- ano ba advantages at disadvantages ng modular helmet compared to a full-faced helmet?
- mayroon ba paraan matangal ang modular helmet sa ulo mo kung sakali masira ang latch mechanism nito (or in case of a crash)?
- is the chinbar durable and dependable enough to protect your jaw (same as that of a full-faced helmet)?
need your comments po and experiences...

NSCB April 18th, 2008, 02:12 PM i've tried Zeus 508W & the Fulmer modular helmet...ended up giving one away and selling the other one...
>both are noisy compared to full face helmets...even when riding only over 60 kph...
>both helmet are also heavier compared to my KBC VR2 full face helmet...
>there is very little room between the chin bar of both helmets to my face...which make the faceshield fogs easily...
i've read good reviews about the HJC modular helmet though...but i guess i'll be sticking to full face helmets....
roadstar April 18th, 2008, 02:50 PM salamat po sir gl3nn at sir nscb for your comments...
Fukitol April 18th, 2008, 04:58 PM I'm using Nolan N102 modular helmet and it's ok. It's true that full face helmet is much safer than modular helmet kaya halos wala ka makita na SNELL certifide na modular pro mayroon namang DOT certifide. Kung masira ang locking system maari mo pa ring maisuot or matanggal ang pagkakasuot nito kasi parehong-pareho lang din ito ng full face sa dimension ng entrada.
redtokkotai April 24th, 2008, 03:44 AM ask ko lang po kung saan makakabili ng hjc modular helmet and how much will it cost? tia :)

ryan April 28th, 2008, 07:57 PM Advantages of full face and modular helmets for me are:
Full face helmet
+ lighter
+ quieter
+ better protection
Modular helmet
+ heavier due to more parts
+ noisier due to gap on chin bar
+ better ventilation especially on stop lights
+ easier to wear eye glasses
At the end of the day, I'd say get one where you are most comfortable. Personally, I like a modular for city riding while a full face for out of town trips
:)

Ad ko na rin sir.
+ it's easier to speak or ask direction since you can just lift it up.
+ I'm a smoker so it goes without saying
+ It's easier to drink or pop in a short bite. During my long rides I sip through my Camel back and take bites from my power bar or beefjerky.

pag nasira ang lock, tanggalin mo na lang tapos bili ka ng separate na protection sa mata, goggles... mukha na kasi siyang half-face helmet, or use it for short trips to supermarket and inside subdivisions :D
seriously...
Zeus 508w (?) din ang gamit ko, hindi naman siya maingay, in fact, kahit umuulan ng malakas, di nag-le-leak ang tubig-ulan sa harap ng visor... but i ride mostly within Metro Manila lang, on a stop and go traffic, a modular helmet is very favorable :)
Maybe i'll consider buying a full face helmet if i begin to do more provincial trips
MAXIMINO 200 May 2nd, 2008, 02:25 PM I have the AGV MODULAR helmet and i'm satisfied with its fitment & quality, the only thing that i dont like is the snap-on lock,i prefer the d-ring type lock.

kanuto123 May 6th, 2008, 01:58 AM theres so many modular helmets in the market pili ka lang ng orig....
mga modular na test ko na madaling makita sa market today: hjc symax (ok yung locking mechanism nya, ndi mabilis mag fog yung lens, tolerable wind noise, removable paddings down side is mabigat)...... gdr modular helmet( hindi ko gusto yung pagkagawa, lens nya parang may grado or baka peke yung na try ko,maingay)..... caberg justissimo (locking mechanism is bakal not plastic, pwedeng i-convert sa half face, tolerable din ang wind noise, with inner visor.....down side mabigat) .......caberg rhyno (magaan, good and well ventilated, inner visor...downside heavy fogging yung lens nya pero pag umaandar na mabilis ding nawawala) ...... index modular ( hindi ko din gusto yung craftsmanship...mukhang marupok, maingay) zeus 508w (mabigat)
well i ended up in buying a caberg rhyno kasi magaan sya hindi masakit sa leeg pag humahampas na yung hangin at hindi ngalay... at syempre konti lang meron nito unique....
