View Full Version : riding shoes vs rubber shoes
kanuto123 April 9th, 2008, 02:10 PM mga sir at mam....mga bro and sis..... lately nag quickie ride kami sa bitukang manok in atimonan quezon nag kayayaan lang or nagkatuwaan lang sa tambayan.... with my helmet, leather gloves, leather jacket, jeans (gusto ko sana umuwi to get may riding pants and boots but at least may knee at shin gaurd ako kaya go pa din ako), and my rubber shoes na merrell(without shoe laces) nag take off na kami papunta doon.....hatawan kami almost 110kh na takbo namin with my jeans medyo nahihirapan ako kasi nag fla-flap na sa hangin eh yung shoes ko naman medyo may wind drag(hindi na ata ako sanay mag long drive with jeans and without my riding boots)well at least i got my rubber shoes kesa sa tsinelas...pero ok naman tuloy tuloy kami.... and we came sa paanan na ng bitukang manok 1st sharp curve i ready myself to bank and to position my self to turn... upon taking the turn sumayad/slide yung tuhod ko..sumayad din dulo ng sapatos ko at eto na nga hay hay hay muntik ng sumama sa kalsada...sabi ko sa sarili ko kung may toe slider etong merrell ko ndi ganito it can easily glide sa pavement.......
well my observation mas safe pa din sa akin yung riding shoes ....why??? : mahirap kasi yung rubber shoes lalo na malambot eto, malambot na rubber soles ang gamit once na nag contact eto sa semento or asphalt siguradong kakapit at kakayod pa paa mo resulting to bone fracture, not wind proof(merong drag),hindi steel toe,etc.....
yes i admit comfortable ang mga rubber shoes kaya lang is it safe sa mga pangyayaring ganito??and yes comfortable din sya sa long drive but is it safe pag nag spill or mishap ka?? BUT....mas gusto ko yung riding boots feeling mas safe mga paa ko dito katulad lang ng helmet at mga gloves....marami din kasi sa ating mga bro and sister dito sa mcp na still using rubber shoes and i recommend na its time to change their shoes to riding shoes na.......lalo na yung mga naka racing tsinelas jan mag isip isip na po kayo.....once na nakagamit ka na ng tamang gear dun mo pa lang malalaman kung anong difference nila.....
riding shoes vs rubber shoes(peronal review)
wind proof vs wind drag
steel toes vs non
heel vs non
with shin(full length boots) & ankle support( above ankle) vs non
durable leather or materials can absorb high impact vs some leathers
atpb that is in favor sa ridig shoes
my merrell rubber shoes kumayod at gustong maiwan sa kalsada
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z92/kanuto123/DSC01293.jpg
kung may ganito sana hindi kakayod and it will easily glide
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z92/kanuto123/DSC01294.jpg
difference between riding shoes and a low cut rubber shoes(malaki pag kakaiba as in malaki)
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z92/kanuto123/DSC01296.jpg
wearing a correct and comfortable riding gears = more efficient, safe and comfortable rider...:D
well this is just my personal review and point of view .... bakit ka pa magtitipid kung buhay mo at kaligtasan ang nakataya dito....

Feeling ko naka Cast yung buo kong paa at shin, which make me feels more secures.
sarfa ng feeling diba? hehehe

kulampang April 13th, 2008, 12:11 AM sir hindi naman siguro lahat bumabanking ng katulad nyo.. syempre kung paride ride ka lang at hindi naman kailangan humiga sa kalsada bawat liko hindi mo na siguro kailangan ng riding shoes d ba?? just my opinion.. pero i think riding shoes is really better than any other normal shoes but you don't need it of your only going for a really short and slow ride.. and again it's only my opinion so who cares about what i'm saying here...

sir im pointing out na mas safer ang riding shoes than using any other rubber shoes mapa long at quickie ride pa eto ... hindi lang pang higa higa at pang toe drag ang purpose nito but to protect your precious feet, ankle, shin incase of spills and mishaps kumbaga mas safe eto kasi na proprotect nya yung mga crash points ng paa mo and one thing more it can easily glide pag nag slide kayo to avoid ankle twisting ....just like wearing a helmet or a full length gloves..... well its up to you kung ano mas prefer mo but i suggest try mo mag riding shoes to feel the difference..... ride safe
@ch1ngy : sir maganda din komine....i think its on sale sa motoworld kasabay nya yung sigma boots on sale...
kulampang April 13th, 2008, 12:53 AM hehehe.. as i said it's only my opinion.. pero sir gusto ko talaga mag riding shoes eh.. i like to experience the feeling of wearing one..

noypito April 13th, 2008, 03:33 AM ako naman, since bihirang bihira ko lang gamitin ang cage ko.(usually driver lang ang gumagamit pang hatid sundo sa anak ko). kahit bumili ako ng rubber shoes or kahit anong klaseng sapatos, i always take riding safety into mind. sa totoo lang, isa lang yata ang sapatos ko na kinoconsider ko na hindi safe for riding.
as for the TS's post na parang di sya comfortable sa gears nya during the ride to bitukang manok. you always have the option to drive less aggressively. di mo naman kailangan maging pasaway palagi pagdating sa mga twisties. kung puro hatawan ang gusto ng mga ride buddies mo, suggest ko na wag kang magpadala. ride at a pace na sa palagay mo comfortable ka at safe ka given the gears na suot mo at that time.
it's your life. you decide.

agree if youre wearing minimal gears (like i do,knee shin elbow guards lng, helm, gloves)i drive less agressively,,,,kasi at the back of my head there are parts of me that are more vulnerable tahn others,,,besides its your life not theirs ika nga, kung mabilis sila,,,bakit mo kailngan sumabay???/ride at own pace ang rule,,,,and youd be safe....(pero dpat alert..baka kasi bigl KA MAHAGIP..HEHEHEH

well yes im not comfortable with my jeans nag flaflap kasi but ok din yung rubber shoes but sa kalagitnaan na ng ride and adrenaline rush hindi na maiiwasan ang pa petiks petiks na takbo ....my point is wearing a riding shoes is more safer, comfortable(for me) than wearing a rubber shoes.......sir as you said "its your life. you decide" ..... ride safe
enoch April 14th, 2008, 11:38 AM I've been riding everyday for two years with my rubber shoes or doc marten boots, and I have never met an accident. I agree Riding Shoes will offer better protection than what I wear but for me riding with a complete understanding of my riding skills and my bike's capacity serves me well.

gatecrash1 April 14th, 2008, 02:59 PM ako po suggest ko lang as a newbie, plan for your rides. - although minsan d talaga maiwasan "spur-of-the-moment" rides or "impulse" decision making....
pero i think po planning your ride will be of great help kasi you will be able to choose and wear the proper set of gears for that specific type of ride...
halimbawa nga, in that ride to bitukang manok, you would need to have riding boots with sliders at hindi lang basta basta boots or shoes. if you've planned for it, you could have used your riding boots instead of your rubbers because of the type of road doon.
kung short ride or slow ride lang naman at comfortable na kayo sa minimal protection, you could decide on wearing ordinary boots or shoes na lang...
if it's an "impromptu" ride, yun nga sabi ng ibang sirs natin dito, adjust the way you ride na lang... less aggressive, since you don't feel fully secure of your protective gear....
windrider06 April 15th, 2008, 06:42 PM Mga sirs, safe to say na lahat ng riders na gumagamit ng gears ay SAFE in their own feelings. Ke riding boots or rubber shoes.
Ano kaya? Situation: Naka one piece ka ng gears with complete aminities ika nga, with matching riding boots, dala mo naman standard touring or cruiser bike?? Hitsura?? Or naka leather jacket, leather pants and leather boots, tapos dala mo racing or sports bike???
In short, both sides have its own face value. In proper perspective ika.
In other short, as long as you feel safe in your gears, RIDE ON!! Ingat ingat lang. PEACE and SAFE RIDE Brothers!:)

ganda po ng coment na to...
beneficial to all// medyo 0.t.
it made you think....
shan April 15th, 2008, 11:01 PM ako gamit ko snickers sketchers brand pag long ride, for me dapat know your boundaries kung gano ka kagaling mag maneho or something. syempre kung vs mo ung ordinary shoes sa riding shoes kaya nga ginamitan ng word na riding shoes e the purpose of this shoes is for riding and other that related on riding like spills, biglang dulas , grip etch etch etch.
pero if you have some extra cash buy a riding shoe kasi ako ito ung list ko before buying
1 helmet
2 gloves
3 jacket with armors back pro elbow etch
4 knee shin guard or pants that have guards
5 other accessories like tank bag, bungee cord, tire repair, extra spark plug etch etch
6 boots.
VuNdO April 16th, 2008, 12:22 AM hmmm..
if all the riders can afford to buy riding shoes/boots, im sure they will buy one.
kung wala, i think any shoes will do, kaysa naman racing tsinelas.
know your skills and capabilities first.

act2000 April 18th, 2008, 05:56 AM Kings shoes are excellent if you don't have the budget to get so called "motorcycle shoes". The reason -- they are fitted w/ steel toe protection and their soles are oil resistant.
If you wanna be sosyal -- Dainese, alpine stars or sidi are excellent. Not only do the have the "breeding" but they are all just super comfy.
willvill May 6th, 2008, 08:37 AM wow! ganda naman ng mga riding shoes ninyo mga tol As for me I use my water boots china made lalo na kung umuulan.

ecks347 June 6th, 2008, 08:53 PM bos.. question lang i'm planning to buy the right shoes.. san ba makakabili ng sigma at may pics ka ba nun? medyo mahal kasi yung exustar eh.
thanks...
d'virus June 10th, 2008, 08:42 AM I was always told:
buy your gear first, then spend what ever is left over for the bike... but then again, that is not always the case.. mahal ang riding boots eh.
+1 to ecks347 for trying to do the right thing..
between rubber shoes and riding shoes in riding... malaking pag kakaiba po... riding boot walang laces na mag-tie up sa gears/brake pedal.
in case of slide, riding boots are design to withstand road scraping/rash thus protecting yung ankle/feet. plus proper riding boots usually has shin guards. non slip sole, para pag stop sa traffic lights na me nga oil spills...
alam ko, we mostly take proper riding gear for granted, esp boots..
pero(God forbids) if we take a spill, those gears are worth its weight in gold...
it doesnt matter how careful we are, remember: there are two types of riders, those who had taken a spill, and those who will...
my 2c worth po....
