I don't wanna be a spoiler guys but I was about to buy myself a Caberg Justissimo , reason I sold my Icon Mainframe helmet but it was too late for me to discover that these helmets did not passed the SNELL standards,a reason why this helmets are tagged with relatively low price which is very unlikely for an italian brand.

I strongly recommend a helmet that is DOT/SNELL approved, please remember the main objective of wearing a helmet is safety and protection and not aesthetics. Working on a limited budget then go for HJC but with an extra buck to spare an Icon,KBC or AGV will be a good choice.

Sir Belgican, so far there is no modular helmet that have passed the SNELL standards because they still can't decide if they would test it as a half face helmet or a full face helmet. I already checked all the manufacturers and none of them have SNELL certification not even SHOEI. For me the only way to go is to get a full face helmet for full protection, just my two cents.

Hi! Sorry if I may sound rude but if I may, I would like to share some information about helmet standards and such.

Firstly, about our selling price for Caberg being relatively low, please know that there is no relationship between "low price" and "Snell-approved". Ever since I started Motoworld, it has been my goal to sell high quality goods at reasonable prices. Even without sales discounts, I'm sure you will notice that pretty much all our prices are very competitive versus overseas.

Now going back, the reason Caberg helmets do not carry Snell approval is because their helmets are sold primarily in EU countries, which requires the ECE safety standard only.

If we all think that only Snell approved helmets are safe helmets, are expensive European brands like Schuberth, BMW, etc, unsafe since they are not Snell approved? How about premium brands like AGV, Shoei, Shark, etc where not all their models have Snell approval?

HJC, KBC, and Icon (made by HJC btw) are brands sold mainly in the US. American consumers are very aware of the Snell standard and helmet brands are aware of this market requirement. Therefore, for a helmet brand to "succeed" in the US market, they have to produce helmets with the Snell standard to sell well.

If you research the similar models made by these companies for sale in EU markets, you will notice that many carry the ECE rating only and not Snell. Same thing in Japan. Most HJC helmets marketed in Japan are made with JIS rating only. It doesn't mean that they are unsafe helmets or not safe enough right?

Snell rating is actually one of the very strict helmet standards. However, I want to help people understand that Snell is not THE only proper helmet standard in the world.

Anyways, about "safety and protection" should be the priority when choosing a helmet, I agree with you as it makes perfect sense. But if the helmet can satisfy these criteria and at the same time have an "aesthetic" appeal too, isn't it even better?

I used to be very hyped up about the Snell "only" thinking. But since I'm now involved in the industry and I get to talk to many people in the helmet manufacturing/marketing business, I have come to understand the differences in safety standard depending on market requirements. Besides, is there such a reputable helmet brand that will make their helmets not so safe on purpose (please note "reputable")? If Snell would have made their helmets "safer", then all of them would have pretty much done it especially on a VERY competitive market environment like in Europe.

There's a wealth of information online and a good start is this website.... http://www.webbikeworld.com

Thanks!!!

:)

Thanks !!!!

Actually, I think KBC (also makes for many US MX helmet brands) and Icon (owned by Parts Unlimited, a very big distribution company, and made by HJC) both have some of the coolest cool graphics.

However, I am convinced that with our current helmet line up of Zeus, Caberg, and Shark - we have pretty much a quality helmet for each person's distinct budget/style/preference at a better price point.
