View Full Version : Nice Bikes, Poor Helmets!!!!
Col.TED November 10th, 2007, 12:08 AM I just don't get it!....sa araw-araw na lang na pagmomotor ko pagpasok sa work, dami kong nakikitang beautiful bikes i.e. dressed & soup ubones, scoots etc.....i even envy them for having such nice bikes....but to my surprise, they just wear cheapo helmets.....parang "tabo" ika nga.....don't these people value their lives?....when will they ever learn....di mo naman masabi na dahil baguhan lang...dumaan din ako dyan yet eventually nagupgrade ng helmet at gears agad dahil alam kong delikado ang pagmomotor....kasi even sa office ganyan din ang scenario....people kept on upgrading to newer bikes...yet still use the same cheap helmets.......pag nakagear ka naman, they look to you as an overkill......duh???......let's see whose overkill once parehas taung kumalat sa kalye.......marami mas mahal pa ang bike nila kesa sa sarili....pansinin nyo rin, laging sidelined ang safetiness ng rider...even on bike shows, di ito nabibigyan ng emphasis....much attention is drawn on who's got the best set up bikes.....safety awareness comes on the side lines.....dapat mas mabigyan ng emphasis ito as vital part ng rider education.......di puro pormahan at pabilisan na lang....:o
dumaan din ako dito and still upgrading my gears sa twing magkakapera
kanuto123 November 10th, 2007, 01:01 AM safety and functionality first!!
iCe213 November 10th, 2007, 01:53 AM nice one sir Ted!! :D
up ko lang para mabasa nang lahat..
commander007ph November 10th, 2007, 02:35 AM buti pa ung iba nakastock bikes pero invest muna sa safety gears. galing!
pepe1275 November 10th, 2007, 08:32 AM That's a good point to raise out bro. Here in Iloilo the last time I attended a motorshow the entrants also have to display their helmets, but sad to say alot of them borrow helmets from their friends to showcase it. If they can afford to soup up their bikes definitely they can afford to buy better helmets.
GUNDAM168 November 10th, 2007, 08:54 AM May formula ang pag compute ng cost ng helmet eh:
Helmet Cost = estimated value of your head (divided by) fair market value of your bike.
GUNDAM168 November 10th, 2007, 09:02 AM That's a good point to raise out bro. Here in Iloilo the last time I attended a motorshow the entrants also have to display their helmets, but sad to say alot of them borrow helmets from their friends to showcase it. If they can afford to soup up their bikes definitely they can afford to buy better helmets.
Kanina lang on my way to work.. may nakasabay ako, hood nung jacket nya naka saklob sa ulo nya...ano kayang proteksyon maibibigay sa kanya nun pag sumemplang sya with his speed na 80kph ( same speed as mine ).
shopro November 10th, 2007, 10:29 AM parang yung naka R1 na nakita namin.. INDEX(local) ang helmet tapos nong napansin nyang yun lagi ang tinitignan namin and not his bike, ayun, the follwing week, SHOEI na ang helmet!! hehehehe
wala pa syang safety gears..suot lang yung long sleeve nya..
bacolodnon November 10th, 2007, 10:43 AM i usually wear my helmet, elbow pad and knee pad during my weekly ride pauwi sa province namin. usually ang reaction nila is " porma ah, magkakarera ba?"
i usually answered back na" kulang pa nga to, kailangan ko pang bumili nang body armor"
kailangan lang talaga i start natin ipa uso yun.
Agent_So November 10th, 2007, 10:43 AM tama! ito rin pinagtataka ko! you can afford to buy a motorcycle and even make an expensive upgrades.... pero hindi makabili ng tamang helmet.... i mean... at least yung maganda, and nasa safety standard...
shopro November 10th, 2007, 01:42 PM tignan mo yung mga DOT marked helmets....im on the bridge of saving my bucks for a DOT marked helmet... im currently using GDR helmet.
shan November 10th, 2007, 01:44 PM ito kung gusto nyo ng mura na quality helmet go for zeus for only 2500 kung meroon ka 3000 dun ka sa hjc kung 4500 dami ka na pwede bilihin dito na helmet ikaw nalang ang mamili.
n!kko_29 November 10th, 2007, 02:02 PM @SHOPRO: may DOT po yung INDEX ko but the CARTING eh wala... salamt
@SHAN: salamat po sa reply..
TNX again

rico1425 November 10th, 2007, 02:47 PM nakakinis lang pag nanakaw yung mamahaling gamit, happened to me once so ngaun, ganda ng motor ko pero tabo helmet ko huhuhuh
mikafajardo November 10th, 2007, 02:59 PM Hay naku Col Ted,
Good to know your thread is not bashed yet. Sad but MCP is also populated with people who will tell you, mind your own business. No matter what you do, they will still insist it is their own choice, money and risk.
Watch mode here and those who fell referred to will just pop up and give a thousand and one excuses.
Nice thread though:)
emil19 November 10th, 2007, 03:08 PM nung naglabas ako ng xrm 125 may kasama siyang helmet, yun bang buong mukha ang face shield pero walang chin guard, di rin naman dot approved kaya after a month and about 500 kms, bumile ako ng ZEUS 508W modular :) got myself an AXO knee and shin guard and a leather jacket too.
dito naman pag naka safety gears ka, gustong gusto kang sasabayan at revrevan at naka t-shirt o kaya sando, shorts and at worse, tsinelas lang sabay yusi pa.. aay ewan... matindi siguro ang built-in body pads nila at mga gamit na "concrete/asphalt blocker"...
cheers....:*

A whole page already went through and there was no MCP forumer who posted the way you were referring to. Huwag tayo masyado "holier-than-thou".

eheheheh.. parang Freeway Ban Forum (which i usually monitor)..
oh well.. ganun talaga mga sirs and sis..
anyway.. medyo kasalanan din kasi ng "hollywood" yan.. most riders are "cooler" to look when you see them riding fast with the wind caressing their hairs.. :O .. gandang example is TORQUE movie.. final showdown..
just crazy.. but that's all there is.. MOVIE.. puwede ka mag take 2..3 pag sumabit..
d2 sa atin once you're dead.. you're DEAD.. no take 2.. 3.. etc..
WEAR YOUR GEARS mga kapatid..
ako nga full stock na kymco activ110.. black orange.. pero when i ride..
i usually wear Zeus Modular/Komine Jack/Komine knee/shin /riding shoes na steel toe pa.. OVERKILL?.. naah.. its SOP! :D
saan biyahe ko?.. san juan to makati.. again.. OVERKILL ba ako?..
ehehehe.. excuse meeh.. INTELLIGENT lang poh.. :D

OT.. Tnx pala sa motoworld global city for the nice helmet:clap:

Variable Valve November 11th, 2007, 10:13 AM because most drivers does not understand what safety for, they taught your a newvies if your wearing a protection gear. What a sad truth?
Variable Valve November 11th, 2007, 10:16 AM i agree with you, your a smart rider. anice ride must come with a nice protection.
djkit November 11th, 2007, 10:17 AM I just don't get it!....sa araw-araw na lang na pagmomotor ko pagpasok sa work, dami kong nakikitang beautiful bikes i.e. dressed & soup ubones, scoots etc.....i even envy them for having such nice bikes....but to my surprise, they just wear cheapo helmets.....parang "tabo" ika nga.....don't these people value their lives?....when will they ever learn....di mo naman masabi na dahil baguhan lang...dumaan din ako dyan yet eventually nagupgrade ng helmet at gears agad dahil alam kong delikado ang pagmomotor....kasi even sa office ganyan din ang scenario....people kept on upgrading to newer bikes...yet still use the same cheap helmets.......pag nakagear ka naman, they look to you as an overkill......duh???......let's see whose overkill once parehas taung kumalat sa kalye.......marami mas mahal pa ang bike nila kesa sa sarili....pansinin nyo rin, laging sidelined ang safetiness ng rider...even on bike shows, di ito nabibigyan ng emphasis....much attention is drawn on who's got the best set up bikes.....safety awareness comes on the side lines.....dapat mas mabigyan ng emphasis ito as vital part ng rider education.......di puro pormahan at pabilisan na lang....:o

Nice thread though:)hehe....i was expecting that before i created the thread, Sir Mika:D.......popcorns, soda and my microwave are all prepared here:)......di talaga mawawala ang thread bashers at matitigas ang ulo.....we'll see how hard their heads are when they experience a nasty spill.....i've known several people saved by their not-so-pricey yet rated helmets:clap:.....hopefully, this thread would serve as an eye opener to everybody especially the newbies......kadalasan kac ang initial concern lang ng newbies ay kung paano pabilisin at papogiin ang rides nila....thanks anyway!:*
james_1 November 11th, 2007, 10:38 AM ako proud talaga magsuot ng helmet
kahit san pumunta...dahil helmet ko
DOT certified
isa pa, pagnaka-gears ako
sarap ng feeling kase
kahit pano alam ko
na safer ako with gears
pepe1275 November 11th, 2007, 10:51 AM Well I think most of our motorcycle brothers who spends most of their money on their bikes and don't want to wear helmet or just those bucket lids wants other people to recognize the rider. They want other people to recognize them that they are the owner of a cool bike but not considering the fact if they get a face plant their face would be anonymous for quite some time from all the bandages covering it if they're lucky enough.
mikafajardo November 11th, 2007, 11:45 AM Really? Could you please point out the offending post I made that fit your exact description. Puro ka parinig.
Need help? I can pm you the number and they will be glad to assist you. You just have to spend for it:D Can you respect the TS just the same:)
GUNDAM168 November 11th, 2007, 12:59 PM Seriously dude, I am really wondering what post I made that could have possibly offended the TS kasi I am totally with the TS regarding his topic. In my attempt to be humorous and tounge-in-cheek, baka na misinterpret yung post ko.
Was it this?
Helmet Cost = estimated value of your head (divided by) fair market value of your bike.
This part of my post could have been the culprit

but it was not aimed at the TS. If the TS misinterpreted it as so then my apologies because it was not meant for him. This post was meant for the people he started the thread for. If it was meant for him, I would have quoted his initial post or added @Col.Ted or @threadstarter before my post.
Otherwise, if you think my post is offensive just point it out and tell me why it was offensive. Matino naman akong kausap eh. Hindi lang ako mind reader.
But please read again my Helmet Cost formula because it is supposed to be funny. Parang derivation yun ng original helmet cost theory na "150 peso helmet for a 150 peso head".

eto kasi yan sir.. " Why is it most riders treat their bikes like gold,
but some treat their body like scrap metal? "

markaiven November 11th, 2007, 04:17 PM Madami talgang rider na inuuna ang pag papa modify ng mc nila kaysa mag invest ng gears! period! some cost for about 5k for a mono shock pero ung helmet nya e isang mumurahin.. parnag mas mahal pa nya mc nya kaysa sa ulo nya.Kung helmet nga e di makapag invest much more pa sa knee/sheen/elbow guard at body armor.
wasted_23 November 11th, 2007, 04:44 PM sa laki ng nagastos sa modifications, can't afford na to buy a good quality helmet:?
markaiven November 11th, 2007, 04:51 PM sa laki ng nagastos sa modifications, can't afford na to buy a good quality helmet:?
this is very right sa sobrang dami naku! naubusan ng pambili.. teka...gusto ba talgang bumili o walng kabalak balak bumili?puro mods nalng..
NSCB November 12th, 2007, 10:53 AM most probably they think that all helmets are the same...and they don't know the difference at all....
o kaya naman...mas matigas ang ulo nila kaysa sa kalsada...he he he
seriuosly speaking...i hope they consider getting good quality helmets before its too late...
miguelvrazo November 12th, 2007, 10:55 AM Good Helmets:

NSCB November 12th, 2007, 11:31 AM di lang yun bro...many people still think that all helmets are the same...that's why some even ride wearing the any of the following helmets:
> Soldier's helmet
> Hard Hard (Construction Worker's Helmet)
> bicyclist helmet
....or even MC helmets w/o or damaged ng inner liners or shell....
ratbugasmati96 November 12th, 2007, 12:12 PM sana magkaron din sir ng gear show sa mga bike shows para mapansin ng lahat ang kahalagahan ng gears...
