na-try mo na gumamit ng balaclava sir? saka yung helmet mo may breath guard ba? though the main purpose of these is not to block dusts, nakakatulong rin naman po kahit papano.

etong mask na 'to kaya?

Here's some pics.

As long as they're still sealed, they're good as new. The filters only begins to deteriorate when it is exposed to water or too much moisture. Beyond that, as long as they remain sealed, they'll practically last forever.

The reason they're expensive is because they're really designed for this application. The Techno filters in particular is designed to filter out most particles we encounter on the road (particularly exhaust gases, among others). A two-filter set costs about P1K (or P500 per filter). Each filter can last me three to four months. Although the recommended lifespan should only be about 45 days, I overuse it. Having a proper filter is better than having none or using the wrong filter. I spend about P200+ a month on vitamins, why should I skimp on protecting my lungs?

so parang lining ng helmet pala yun... ows. :D

yung mga stock nila i've seen them personally a month ago - are not 'fresh' anymore. Like they're 3 years and probably older. Some are old models pa. I think they dont have new stocks or will ever get newer ones.

It's actually better to use full face helmet and some 'filter' - cheap balaclavas or respro copycats. If you use tabo helmet it wont limit air intake. Singhot mo lahat.

You know what, medyo OT - there are studies that multivitamins and ampalaya supplements etc can actually do you more harm than good - in the long run.

It's not just a "lining". Read the FAQs here:http://www.respro.com/technicalnotes_faq.php#q1

Appreciate your concern. But you're right... it's OT.

Daming alternative

oha.

Have you tried it?

Been wearing this everyday for 5 years... Respro City mask with Techno (thick) filters and valves... Helmet is a HJC CL-14 full-face. No problems.

Of course, there will be a slight discomfort at first which you'll get used to in a few days. But it's not enough to cause a headache or irritate the ears. In fact, the product goes below the ears and the velcro strap at the back of your neck is conveniently below and outside the back of the helmet.

I have the same one. It's basically the first model that became available to us several years ago.

I dunno bout your helmet, if you can lift it to your forehead and make it stay there while driving or if your helmet lack resistance when you put it on or pull it off then your helmet is too big for you. Or the pads have memorized your facial features over time and by the time you start using the respro, the clearance on the chin area has given it (and more air) enough space to get in. If the clearance of the nose and the breath guard of your helmet is again wide enough, the thick pad of respro will have room of course. Then consider the cheek pads too, if you have tight cheek pads before you bought the respro then you will have problems fitting a respro with almost 1 cm thickness. Add that extra skin (and of the balaclava) making the respro to stay during rides would be a challenge. On the rear end, the helmet would hit the strap and pinch the back of my neck. It's so annoying.

If you are going to buy the respro, make sure you buy a bigger than your usual size full face helmet. Or when you're buying one, make sure you bring your helmet with you and fit them together, let them bond a little like for 10-15 minutes see if you develop some irritation or discomfort. Which I think is impossible for the store to allow you to... so, goodluck on your expensive purchase which is half the cost of a new CL helmet...

It's funny that I don't encounter what you experienced. If I did, I wouldn't be wearing this everyday for five years. Anyway, I guess shape of your head/face, helmet model, as well as your tolerance to discomfort can play a big role on what's going to work and what's not. I don't wear a balaclava because I feel it's redundant.

FWIW, my CL-14 (fixed, non-modular full-face) helmet is a snug fit even without the filter. Wearing the Respro, the fit becomes even tighter... a bit too tight at first, but after a few weeks of use, either the cheek pads have adjusted to the contours of the filter and/or I have learned to ignore the slight discomfort as it no longer bothers me. In fact, I've gotten to the point when I feel queasy when not wearing any filter under my helmet... both because the helmet feels a bit loose (even if it's really not) and I can smell exhaust gases from a bus a mile away.

I believe this is not an "expensive purchase". It's more of an investment. You buy a good helmet, good tires, protective gear... heck, your MC's engine has an air filter... why should your own body deserve less? I'm not saying that you SHOULD buy a Respro-branded filter. The OP was asking for recommendations on a "good" filter in the context that he seems to have a medical condition (allergy maybe?). I just felt that a proper breath filter is his best bet.

Nothing has changed much with the latest Respro models. They're mostly improvements in aesthetics... new designs, modern colors, etc. But the heart of these masks is the filter element. You should either choose the City or Techno models, as they're particularly designed for urban commuting. So yes, even the old stocks/models are worth it (again, as long as it's still sealed) if you can get your hands on one.

Good day everyone.
