Gmax Riders

Almost a year ago when I got the chance to have the Feb-Mar2006 Scooterista Magazine, I saw the “been there been that” column. An article entitled Round the World in A Day caught my attention, as I read the whole story I got more excited because they traveled from Antipolo all way up to Tagaytay all in 1 day, and I told to myself.. I’m going to that route soon…Honestly that was one of my dream ride.

How to bring your scoot/bike from Caticlan to Boracay?

Posted by JohnRana On June - 17 - 2008

Prior to the ride, we asked several contacts in Bora if we could actually bring in our scoots to the island resort. All said it’s not easy or it was close to impossible with the strict regulations. Details on how-to were sketchy so our group settled to just leave our reliable steeds at Caticlan. But deep inside, I still wanted to give it a shot. We’ve gone all the way there, so how hard is it really to bring the scoots along on a 15-minute boat ride? But who do we talk to? The coast guards? The boatmen? The porters? We were totally clueless. I admit I was also concerned of about how much that extra trip would cost or if it was even safe to do so. On a personal level, bringing my scooter there will be a validation that this ride is indeed a Boracay Ride. I wanted it so much that I had to at least try. [READ MORE...]

An epic ride to Boracay!

Posted by JohnRana On June - 13 - 2008

After tackling the North Luzon Loop, our club’s Ride Director (Rastaman) suggested that we ride to Bora. It took months of planning as logistics were critical for this ride as it involved scoots being ferried twice in two RoRo stations before we could reach our intended destination. We wanted to actually bring our scoots in the island. But after asking around, we knew it was close to impossible with the strict environmental regulations plus the fact that we don’t know which riding club has ever done so before, that is, if there is already. So, we agreed to go on with the ride and settled to just bring the scoots up to Caticlan then try our luck once we get there.

Soon as this ride was confirmed, my wife & daughter booked a flight to Bora to meet us there. Here’s a route map how we got there.

Air travel takes just a little over an hour and with the cheap airfare for advance bookings, the cost comes out just the same compared to RoRo. But riding isn’t just about getting to the destination, it’s also about experiencing the sights and enjoying the journey every step of the way. [READ MORE...]

Posted by mcphils On June - 12 - 2008

The rains may have started but that doesn’t mean we should let that dampen the fun!
All riders and clubs are invited to a rider party on June 14, 2008 (Saturday) 7PM at the Hobbies of Asia Concept Mall along Macapagal Avenue.

What’s in store?
Great music from two great bands–Juan Pablo Dream and Kojones.
Raffle prizes–it wouldn’t be a Scooterista party if we didn’t give away free stuff!
Exhibits–some partners will be on hand to display their latest offerings.
Special prizes for the largest club or contingent and the best scooter and underbones to be put on display!

No pre-registration but be there early to get your raffle entries in.

Don’t worry about the rains because this will be in the COVERED PARKING LOT of Hobbies of Asia Concept Mall. Bawal ang ulan sa party na to! Woohoo!

See you there, scooteristas!

Independence Day Ride!

Posted by JohnRana On June - 11 - 2008

Our destination is the Aguinaldo Shrine (the ancestral home of the first Phil. president) in Kawit, Cavite. It’s the site where Philippine Independence was proclaimed back in June 12, 1898. During that date each year, the Philippine flag is raised by the incumbent Philippine President (or his/her representative) to commemorate the event.

We went there a good three days before the actual day since June 9 (Monday) was declared a non-working day and a perfect time to get there when security isn’t too tight yet. It’s relatively a short ride from Manila, yet the most relevant destination for the occasion.

When we got there, preparations for the June 12 event (it’s the 110th Independence Day celebration) was well underway. A stage was being set-up fronting the house while some media people were also there getting some footages.

Thirteen riders joined and here’s our group shot infront of the Shrine. (Pic courtesy of JC.)
