AUGUST 2009 NRA TRACK DAY – FUN-TASTIC!

Posted by mcphils On August - 28 - 2009

NEXT TRACK DAY — 06 DECEMBER 2009 —- AT THE NEWLY OPENED CLARK INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY (CIS) IN ANGELES CITY!

The National Racing Association’s Track Day last 23 August 2009 at the Batangas Racing Circuit had as many F words faster than you can say F_ _ _! (That’s for “FUNK” you people!) It had FAMILY, FRIENDS, FOOD, FUN, FERVOR, FREAKS (TD Freaks that is!), FAST riders, FANCY bikes, FAMILIAR and FAMOUS FACES, FASHIONABLE gear, and lots of FANS!

Presented by Bridgestone Tires, the “F”ourth NRA Track Day for 2009, under event director and NRA Prez Jake Swann, drew the participation of more than 80 motorbike enthusiasts (and that’s not counting the ride marshals, who included current and former racers Migs Ripoll, Rod Chua, Jay Carrion, Richie Lazaro, and Jade Lazaro) and quite a number claiming “I’m Only Here to Watch” motorcyclists) from mostly big to small displacements, who all feverishly (another F word!) rode around the 3.7 kilometer track under clear, bright, beautiful skies  throughout the day.

Usual Track Day suspects in attendance were Superbike champs Glenn Aguilar, Toti Alberto, Miguel Bichara, Ryan Medina, and SBK racers John Defensor, Joby Tanseco, Nino Garcia, JC Villanueva and small and big bike ace Dashi Watanabe. Even u-bone expert Jeff Chan was there! But what really got the fans jumping in the stands and the girls screaming “I Love You’s” was not the presence of these bike hunks, but two (literally!) small bike wonder kids, 9-year old Brandel Ortiz, and 12-year old Mokoy Ancheta.

Brandel, son of former Superbike (Expert Class) racer Randy Ortiz, and riding on a shiny yellow Betrakit 75cc, and Mokoy, on an equally bright yellow and blue Honda Wave 100cc, totally held their own against bigger, taller, and more experienced Track Day riders around the huge (at least for these two!) BRC circuit.  Their proud parents, as well as a hundred more spectators in the paddocks and in the grandstands, cheered them on during their track sessions as if actual races were going on (take that you big boys!)

Speaking of parents and their kids, Track Day also became a Family Day of sorts as several riders had their families in tow — wives, dads, moms, aunts, uncles, grandmas, even their little babies!

Track Day fans also had a blast watching two fun races in the afternoon — a 4-lap event for the big bikes, and another 3-lap affair for the small bikes. In the big bike class, the racers and experts, however, became distraught as the “fun rules” restricted them from joining the non-experts. They had a great time, nevertheless watching their friends and fellow riders experience close to what the “real deal” is like at BRC.

A lot more joined the small bike fun race (as the rules didn’t restrict the racers from joining this time) which was participated in among others by Dashi, Brandel, and Mokoy. And what a treat these small motor bikers gave the audience! No prizes though. Just the grand reward of having ridden the impressive Batangas track with these uber-talented racers and fellow bike enthusiasts!

But the excitement of the day didn’t stop there!  TradeTech Marketing, a Batangas-based company, had a display during Track Day too. But wait!  Before you can scratch your head and ask, they’re the exclusive Philippine distributors of MotoAir, a textile riding jacket — with a built-in air bag! (We told you it was exciting!)  TradeTech received a lot of inquiries about these jackets and pretty soon this product will make its debut in the Metro Manila market.

Motorcycle clubs that came in full force for the NRA Track Day were Bikers Unlimited, Disciples, P_k-P_k Riders, Toy Bikes MC, Bagwis Manila, Club R, Motobok, and several from ATAT, Ducati Unlimited Club, and Club 200.

All in all, the NRA Track Day last Sunday was a very successful and most enjoyable affair for the organizers, the participants, spectators, guests, and everyone in general.

Many thanks again to the sponsors of this event which were Teknic, Easy Trailer, and Aeromed Ambulance Transport, together with media partners Inside Racing, Mo2rista, and www.motorcyclephilippines.com.

And a big “Thank You!” to ALL who came and supported the event!

See you all next Track Day!

RFAC 4 Season 2

RFAC invades City of Angels or City of Angeles, Pampanga last August 23, 2009.

Duyan ni Maria Childrens Home in Mabalanias, Angeles City was the chosen beneficiary. The place houses abandoned children.

This place was visited by Sir Speedmaniac, one of the RFAC Council of Elders (COE’s) a name coined by some volunteers from a simple joke and even went there twice to survey the best possible route to be used by the Riders. Since there are road construction along Mc Arthur Highway in Pampanga, COE’s Ride Officials Sir Pogikazzmut (Spearhead) and Sir Blacknaz (Sweeper) chooses the Mexico, Pampanga Route, with a well paved road, though it’s a flat and straight road, the Riders was treated with natures best, a rice paddies along the road and a view of Mt. Arayat.

The once a month RFAC Ride, number of Volunteer Riders increases in numbers, this time we almost hit the 200 mark, the biggest number of Riders. From Clubs to individuals who are willing to extend their time and wealth to less privilege children. Thank You All
The assembly point was in a gasoline station in Valenzuela City, the group numbering around 65 Riders departs around 5:45am. As the train traverses the route, additional Riders joined the train, from Bulacan to Pampanga from Groups to individuals, thanks to the Marshalls. Some stops due to mechanical trouble occurred such as flat tires and worst a loosen bolts of valve tappet cover.

We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to Sir Natt of JET Riders Club of Pampanga and its members numbering about 20, for being the Marshalls of the train when we arrived in San Fernando, Pampanga. They lead and guide our way to our destination and to our lunch venue, a cheap 100.00 pesos per head, eat all you can. Again, Thank You JET Riders of Pampanga.

While at the Duyan ni Maria, flicks of camera flash bulbs come from different directions. One Rider even climbed the roof to have a good angle.
To All Volunteers, individuals or Groups and Donors, though we cannot name you one by one, you know who you are. RFAC will not be a success without you help. We will continue our humble mission as long as we can and thru your support.

With the effort of COE’s such as Sir Lance, Sir Papabert16, Sir Extremevelocity, Sir Kaloi our Photographer (absent in this Ride), Sir Dennon who is physically absent (OFW) but has been supporting RFAC from the start we hope and pray to continue this undertakings. To other Ride Officials, many thanks for being there.

To ALL Volunteers, be ready and prepare you iron horses for R5S2 and enjoy the long and hilly road of Gen Trias, Cavite our next destination.

NRA August 23, Trackday at the BRC

trackday-8-23-09

Rev those bikes people!

It’s Track Day once again at the Batangas Racing Circuit on August 23, 2009, and fulfill your need for speed…

Organized by the National Racing Association and presented by Bridgestone Tires, Track Days allow your inner Rossi or Stoner come to life — but mind you, keep it real, too.  Know your skill level and stick to it.

Registration fees are Php950 for big bikes, while its Php500 for small bikes, inclusive of lunch and drink.

Bikers love Track Days because it let’s them ride fast around a circuit, yet feel safe and have lots of fun with other riders. Whether you’re a novice, experienced, or expert Track Day participant, everyone feels right at home. Riders are grouped into skill levels, so there’s no pressure, no anxiety, no stress!

Make sure, too, that before coming to the track, you’ve got your gear all nice-smelling and ready. The NRA usually requires full leathers (1 or 2 piece zip-together), or a textile equivalent with complete armor (and when we say complete we mean back, shoulders, elbows, knees. Some even have hip armor!), full-face helmet (sorry, no half, open face, or modular helmets), full-fingered leather gloves, and leather boots.

Fuel can be purchased at the track for your convenience, but its preferable you’ve got your gas tank all good and full (you wouldn’t want your bike to sputter in the middle of a session, in front of your fine, macho club mates, would you?) While we’re at it, you might as well check your tires, pressure, oil, and all that other stuff you check on your bike before an honest to goodness ride around the track.

And what makes NRA Track Days really great is that we’ve got a team of trained professional ride marshals to guide participants around the track, medical and ambulance stand-by’s, trained track marshals, and a competent staff to make your track day experience worry-free.

We’ve also got fun races going on in the afternoon (we told you, riders in NRA Track Days have lots of fun!), and participants get to win prizes (not cash, but something really cool!  We promise!)

As an added treat, TradeTech Marketing will be there, displaying, as well as selling the latest in textile riding jackets — with built-in air bags! Go check them out!

Sponsors include Teknic, AeroMed Ambulance Transport, and Easy Trailer, with media partners Inside Racing, Mo2rista, and www.motorcyclephilippines.com.

For more information, call the National Racing Association at tel. no. (632) 725 3949 or mobile no. 0917 8202391.

See you at the track!
