But Await a Bigger, Better, a More Exciting, and a More Challenging MOTOKHANA 2011!
Marami ang nakisaya at nakilahok sa huling event ng Castrol Activ MOTOKHANA 2010 na ginanap nuong September 12, 2010 sa SM City Fairview!
SM City Fairview hosted the biggest and best-attended MOTOKHANA event so far, when close to 60 entries answered the challenge of “How Good a Rider Are You?”
The event literally stopped traffic along the mall’s main roads, with mall security getting headaches all throughout the day, as approximately 50,000 people saw and watched this rider skills activity located along SM City Fairview’s Parking Area E.
This particular MOTOKHANA also proved to be the hardest yet for the rider participants, as several spills and skids, and many safety cones run over and dragged along, were witnessed from the morning practice sessions to the competition proper, due to the high level of difficulty of the course lay-outs.
But, despite the lofty demands of the course, the riders, whether participant or a rider sampling the MOTOKHANA for the first time, couldn’t stay away going around the MOTOKHANA main competition area, only taking a break during the lunch hour.
Mr. Eije Kobayashi, General Manager of Sales and Marketing of Suzuki Philippines, Inc., was also there, to try his hand in the MOTOKHANA. And what a field day he had! Kobayashi-san, who also happens to be a gymkhana rider in his native Japan, commented that the MOTOKHANA was quite hard, but eventually getting the hang of it later in the morning. He then said he had a lot of fun, wishing he could stay longer after lunch, if only for a prior commitment.
And to know how the rider participants fared, here are the official results:
The Castrol photo booth also proved to be extremely popular as a long line of people waited to have their pictures taken with the lovely and charming Castrol beauties, who also stayed on until the awarding ceremonies after dusk (in others words “Dinumog sila!”)
Mr. Edwin Go, of Motorsiklo Trading, and host of MOTORSIKLO EXCLUSIBO (heard every Saturdays, from 1:30pm to 3:00 pm, on DZME AM), also became a surprise guest commentator, lending his talents and famous humor to the activity. Mr. Go also interviewed several of the participants to their, and the crowd’s delight, with his usual wit and candor.
He also interviewed Mr. Peter Garcia, proprietor of a new motorcycle product called Cycle Seal, which is a tire sealant that is proving to be a practical and convenient tool for riders who don’t need to go to a vulcanizing shop when their tires get a flat or get punctured while on the road. Mr. Garcia did an actual demonstration of how Cycle Seal worked, to the interest and curiosity of the big crowd that gathered to watch his demo.
After the event, however, many of the riders couldn’t help but express their sadness as it suddenly dawned on them that this was the last MOTOKHANA event for the year.
