Mayor Bernabe Supercross Cup Kicks Off June 12-13

The country’s top motocross riders will have their first taste of night racing when National Motorcycle Sports and Safety Association (NAMSSA)’s stages round 5 of the 2009 Supercross series in Paranaque City on June 12 & 13. Supercross, a popular spectator sport in the US will be showcased in the in event being organized by NAMSSA at the Speedworld Supercross Track located near SM City Bicutan.

Conceptualized to create an awareness of the motorcycle sport among enthusiasts as well as weekend mallrats forever in search of anything entertaining, NAMSSA’s supercross series is guaranteed to bring huge crowds to the venue considering its proximity to the mall and its accessibility to riders and enthusiasts from the metropolis and neighboring provinces.

Moto 1 will be held on Friday night, June 12, while Moto 2 is set the following evening. Official practice starts at 4:00 pm. The races in different classes will commence after the practice sessions up and last until the day’s final race set at around 10 pm.

“We wish to thank Mayor Jun Bernabe for supporting our endeavor,” said Macky Carapiet, President of NAMSSA. “We are likewise thankful to Mr. Benjo Bernabe of the Paranaque City Sports Department. We hope that we will be able to contribute significantly to their goals and objectives.”

An estimated 30,000 watts of lighting equipment will illuminate the racetrack using the state of the art CAT Rental Store HID Lighting. The circuit which was designed to comply with international standards for supercross was carved out with state of the art Cat Monark Equipment in the record time of two weeks with constant adjustments. The top winner of the event will be awarded the Mayor Jun Bernabe Supercross Cup. The series will showcase the country’s premiere riders as they square off for the top prizes in different divisions. The NAMSSA thru their accredited promoters the Xtreme Worx Philippines has newly acquired a racing circuit in the center of Metro Manila of international standards to host national and international Supercross events to award the Philippine Champion of the Rider of the Year, its named Speedworld MX Park. Due to its proximity to the city center the event promises to be a big success as usual in most motocross races appeal to spectators, riders, media and the fans.

With the contract from SM Supermalls of Bicutan there is a win win situation with the easy access to SM Mall facilities and the circuit proper. The circuit design was garnered from design in the USA and the intricate design was carved out by state of the art 2009 Monark CAT Rental Store equipment. Most especially with the supply of tower flood lights that will light up the track for racing under lights of 30,000 watts of high power HID lighting supplied by CAT Rental Store.

The first of the series of monthly night races shall held on June 12 & 13 from 1400 hrs to 2100 hrs, Friday & Saturday Night special of races, featuring riders from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao and inquiries are coming in from Guam international riders for their participation soon in the future.

The race track is weather proof since the construction we have leveled the grounds to a central drainage in the said lot and shall be rain proof, as we prepare for the onset of the rainy season.

The central location of all NAMSA race track within the city center ensures high volume of traffic. The design of the circuit makes it a point that the bike and rider are 70 % of the lap in the air, as calls for pure action.

Track Day on May 31, 2009 at the Batangas Racing Circuit — and get a free test ride on board a Kawasaki Fury 125 and a Kawasaki Rouser 200!

If you have never experienced riding your bike on track, then NRA Track Days are the events for you.

Organized by the group that started it all for local track days since the mid-90’s, track days have proven to be a place where one can improve their riding skills, expand their comfort levels, or even make it a stepping stone to a possible racing career.

If neither are one’s reasons for joining a track day, then simply come and have fun with fellow bikers and motorcycle enthusiasts, and fulfill the “Need for Speed” in a safe and controlled environment.

There’s no pressure for novice or first-time track participants! NRA Track Days are structured to ensure that newbies get a good introduction to circuit riding. Ride marshals will be on hand to guide one around the track. Medical services and a well-trained staff and crew will also be there for a worry-free track day event. Expert, experienced, and intermediate riders are also grouped into their respective skill levels to get the most fun and challenge out of their track day encounter.

Registration starts at 7am. Fees are P950 for big-displacement motorcycles and P500 for small-displacement bikes. Lunch and drink is inclusive of fee. Riders’ briefing begins at 8am.

Expert riders must be in 1- or 2-piece, zip-around leathers. Experienced, intermediate, novice and first-timers should also wear leathers, or textile equivalent, with full/complete armor. Leather boots/above ankle footwear, full-fingered leather gloves, and full-faced helmet (no half/open face or modular helmets) are also required.

But NRA Track Days are not just about going fast and going around the track.

PUERTO PRINCESA CITY PLAYS HOST TO 2009 MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONS OF ASIA

Puerto Princesa City will again play as back draft for the bigger and more intense battle for supremacy in the 2009 FIM Motocross Masters of Asia – Puerto Princesa International Motocross Grand Prix set March 1 at the Sta. Monica International Racetrack in Puerto Princesa City. This event shall be side by side by the Foundation of Puerto Princesa City that shall be celebrated on Macrh 4, 1009

This was consummated after Puerto Princesa Mayor Edward S. Hagedorn signed up with FIM Asian Motocross Commission & NAMSSA president Macky Carapiet for the hosting of the much awaited and country’s biggest motorsports spectacle supported by the City of Puerto Princesa, Oakley.

Hagedorn sees this event as a big tourism boost to beef up the country’s economy aside from his thrust to preserve Puerto Princesa City’s tag as the Sports Tourism Capital of the Philippines.

The City’s Chief Executive, together with City Administrator Agustin Rocamora and Atty. Agustin of the City Sports department are now mapping out plans to make the event a bigger success and even more enjoyable for the visiting foreign delegates.

Up for grabs is the 2009 Mayor Edward S. Hagedorn Cup — a sterling silver trophy coming from the city’s chief executive and his constituents.

Mongolian ace rider Khaliunbold Erdenbileg is set to defend his crown against champion riders from more than 10 countries expected to vie for the titles at stake.

Among the other foreign riders to watch are Iran’s Mojtaba Karimzadeh, Amirreza Sabetifar, Indonesian trio Iwan Hermawan, Dede Mulyadi and Alex Wiguna and Thailand’s Trakarn Thanthong, and past Japanese Factory rider champion Kaga shall arrive to provide a mx school and freestyle tricks !

A TV Crew from UK will be arriving for the global TV coverage of ESPN and Star TV that will telecast the event to over 540 million households worldwide.

Filipino riders, led by new national champion Kenneth San Andres, are now busy preparing to take the foreign challenge.

The National Motorcycle Sports and Safety Association annually hosts and sanctions national road race and motocross series and awards the national champion to the winners of the said races and award them the Rider of the Year awards as the Philippine National Champion. With over 18 national events hosted the riders listed below has performed with exemplary performance to their respective sports disciplines. These riders also are garnered in a pool to represent the country in international FIM sanctioned competitions globally were in its NAMSSA role and duty to develop the national grass roots of racing and then to elevate their respective talents to the international level and then on to the world level of competitions which is fulfilled and done annually by the NAMSSA for the national athletes of the Philippines.
