Ride For a Cause Part 2 has just been concluded and all were in high spirits. In the forums, a suggestion was raised about having a tshirt printed for the participants of RfaC, so that the riders can identify each other by having the rider’s handle name printed on the shirt.

A rider (ehem!) came up with a tshirt design concept, and using a very rough design, presented it to the rider’s on the forums. Another rider then put the concept to a working design, most of the riders agreed to the concept and design and commissioned another former to start printing the tshirts. A list was populated to reflect the rider’s tshirt orders and sizes. Our RfaC organizer’s (do we need to name name’s? :D) had stepped up for the collection for the cost of the shirt and even volunteered their personal bank accounts as a means of collecting the payments. As the tshirt project was underway, RfaC organizers also started to collect funds and donations. Organizers had identified the next RfaC recepient as the Rehoboth Children’s Home in Sampaloc, Tanay, Rizal. In coordination with Ms. Fe Canlas, Resident Administrator of Rehoboth, riders started gathering the donations. Meanwhile, the tshirt project was finished and was distributed thru the valiant efforts of one of our RfaC senior organizer.

Modern Knights on Iron Horses

Who says chivalry is dead? In these modern days there is a new breed of knights, modern knights with armored riding jackets on iron horses. They are forumers of MotorcyclePhilippines.com who have banded together from different motorcycle groups and clubs that wanted to share their blessings to the less fortunate. These riders are local tourists who mostly take rides along the countryside to get away from the busy urban life we are all used to.

Usually, rides are scheduled on Sunday mornings when the weather permits. Riders meet at a Shell gas station at Marcos Highway around dawn, go up the mountains thru Cogeo and thru Tanay. These riders traverse the twisting and winding roads to get to Laguna or Quezon, enjoy hot meals of bulalo and inihaw or hot lomi soups at a popular bulaluhan or lomi house then go back to Manila thru the same twisting and winding roads. And be back home in the afternoon, and have enough rest to go back to work the next day.

The Evolution of the Cavite Moto Club (CMC)

Motorcycle Philippineis Cavite Moto Club

One of the more active clubs of the site, the Cavite Moto Club has pieced together a history of the evolution of their club in this thread in the forum.

As I was browsing the compact disk (CD) given by Sir Jon, our official photographer, which contained the photo shots of various CMC group rides for the past two years (the CD was intended for the photo story in Scooterista mag), I just can’t help but to relive the days when a bunch of motorcycle enthusiasts welcomed the opening of a group to Cavite riders for the main reason of getting enjoyment from riding to different scenic hotspots in the Philippines, particularly Luzon, and consequently gave way to the birth of Cavite Moto Club (2005).

SRC Northern Exposure - A Ride Tribute to MGee

SRC Ride Tribute for Mgee

Is an iron riding butt developed through practice or are just inborn to some? Well, members of Sunday Riders Club would find it out the hard way. With quite a few years of riding the short to medium routes, SRC members wanted to see if they have developed that “iron butt” needed to complete a North Luzon loop. Weeks of planning ensued: brainstorming sessions during tambays, consultations with SRC seniors and friends who have done the loop, then it was finalized; SRC is going to do the North Luzon loop ride. Sadly, months before the planned ride, Mgee figured in an accident doing the loop ride with another group. although still grieving for the loss of a Dear Ride Buddy Brother, Friend, Father and Mentor, SRC members were even more motivated to pursue this ride, not only for their own satisfaction, but also as a tribute to a fellow rider whose passion for biking was unparalleled.
