Just like last year it was held in a private pool so that we have time to bond with each other.

During the last General Meeting, Sir Moonraker come up front and volunteered to find a place for us to celebrate our Anniversary, thanks Sir, we rented a place with 5 rooms and a pool with billiard table and videoke machine provided.

Day 1, July 19, 2008
Received an early telephone call from Sir BRCEmil our former Ride Director excusing him for not joining the Celebration for some reason. I tried to convince him to join the fun and he told me that he will just bid us goodbye from our tambayan.

At Tambayan, one by one the group converged. After waiting for sometime, the group decided to proceed to our destination. Spearheaded by RD Buds, the group chose the Tagaytay, Talisay, Tanauan, Calamba Route.

Upon reaching the entrance of Talisay twisties, the group has a short respite because Sir Buds had to adjust the chain of his motorbike, some photobugs from the group decided to take the opportunity to take some pictures and some had to burn some cigarettes to warm their bodies from cold mid afternoon weather of Tagaytay City. While negotiating the twisties of Talisay, to my surprise, from our rear came Sir BRC Emil, who had catch up since we left that Tambayan around 2pm. The group enjoined the stretch road of Talisay to Tanuan….

When the group reached Calamba, communication was made to Sir Moonraker, since he would be coming from work and leaves at 4:45pm the group decided to have early dinner/merienda at Binalot Restaurant in Calamba where Sir Moonraker joined us later.

After dinner, our group headed for the final destination…. The Roque Villas in Pansol.

A group headed by Sir Boomgray, Yuli, and Moonraker (our marketing team), left to purchase foods and drinks. All hands are at work to prepare our meals, thanks guys and Mam Flor. We feasted on grilled porkchop and tilapia…

After dinner the party started…..with lots of drinking (Gilbey’s Lime Mix), singing, dancing and swimming…..

Pres Jester, BRCEmil and couples Reeman and Flor had to leave early…hope Mam Flor was not offended by the jokes of Sir Alvin…

What happened between Day 1 and Day 2???

Please forgive me…. Ask them hehehe….especially our “paniki team”… headed by Sir Richard, Eagle 1, Buds to name a few……

Day 2… July 20, 2008
Early risers were Sir Boomgray, Moonraker and I…

Since our stay at the place was until 6:00am. One by one the group woke up…

Hot taho….to warm our stomach…was our breakfast hehehe…

We decided to have breakfast in Tagaytay…

A new route was introduced to us by Sir Boomgray… the Canlubang to Tagaytay Route… with a winding road just a little stretch of rough road….if fully completed this will be another playground for a twisties addict…

Breakfast at Mahogany…. the group had fun moments as seen on the pictures taken by Sir Gerard…(Post pics na, sir)

Heading to our Tambayan… some members enjoyed the downhill stretch of Aguinaldo Highway….

At the Tambayan, Sir Moonraker treat us with a cold soda drink… from there we say goodbye with each others….

Thank You Guys,,,

Another year has past….Happy Anniversary… more fun and excitement to shared…

This particular ride was unique from the start. It started off with one invitation by a Pastor biker in Tarlac and ended with a ride that can be called a “rally” in some countries.

I’ll get right to it – on the day of the ride, there were 5 groups gathered, namely FaithRiders Manila, FaithRiders Tarlac, ByKings, SoulHunters & BroomBroomRiders. All in all there were a total of about 48 bikers with 3 backriders present for the ride. Mostly composed of sub4’s but the group was a totally mixed breed of bikes from all brands and all ages.

The day started off at around 830am. We headed to the Eco-Tourism park. It was a hot summer-type day and there was really nothing to do but chat for a while to pass the heat. New friendships were formed there and old ones rekindled. It was a good time for it on the viewdeck with the spectacular view of nature & mountainside surrounding Tarlac.

At around 1pm, we headed down to a sort of a retreat house ran by a couple with a great story to tell. That place too had a wonderful view of its surroundings and had a large spacious area for reflection if one ever wanted to stay there to ponder anything. We had lunch there and had a couple of public testimonies about God’s love and power. Personally I found it very interesting cause the group kept laughing at all the jokes and stories. It was a good highlight of the day.

By 3pm we headed to a place where heroes died – the memorial for the death march – Capas Shrine. My baby & I glanced at the wall where all the names of those who died were written in – lo and behold, we both have relatives who died there. I would think the readers of this article would find their family names there as well if ever they looked.

At 5pm we ended the day with a merienda at one of the bikers home (Thanks Emz & Ichtus) where we had palabok and maja blanca… YUM!

After that, everyone headed in their separate ways. But before I end my story, this is what I learned that day – that no matter how different we are, no matter what our bikes, no matter what personality differences we have, on that one day I saw God work His hand in the smallest of words and actions that planted seeds of curiosity in the hearts of the bikers who did not really know Him.

So, in all we were 48 bikers from 5 groups, riding to 4 destinations in 1 full day. It wasn’t your average ride. And I am so glad it wasn’t.

A week ago Metro South Scoots Members plan to have a ride at MARILAQUE
The original plan:
Ride date: July 14, 2008 (monday)
Destination: MARILAQUE
4:30 am Las Pinas members take off to Villamor Air Base
5:00 am take off from Villamor Air Base to MARILAQUE
Shine or Shine

July 14, 2008 Monday
4:00 am to 6:00 am – Exchaging of SMS to the tune of Rain Rain Go Away! One of the MSS member from BF Resort, Las Pinas informed us that the rain already stop in their place and a member from Pulang Lupa also in Las Pinas texted us that currently it is raining in their place. A member located in Villamor Air Base went out of their house to check if it is raining or not, it’s raining. All the members was advice to monitor the status of their location and keep updating each members. We decided to adjust our take off time to 7:00 am.

6:00 am – To ride or not to ride! Of course to ride! The sun continues to shine. We texted the Las Pinas members to hit the road to Villamor Air Base.

6:54 am – You’re my sunshine! We meet the Las Pinas members infront of NAIA 3 terminal. Ride instructions were given. Eight riders with their MC’s are excited and ready to hit the road.

7:50 am – Full tank please! We’re at Petron, this is the last gas station wherein you can fill up your tank with genuine gas but there are stores along MARILAQUE that you can buy a bottled gas. Each one of us check our motorcycle tires and tanks, we took some pictures and we head to our destination. The sun still continues to shine!

8:40 am – Stop and Pose for a while at Palo Alto. Yes, we stop at Palo Alto and had our funny poses, candid pictures, yosi break and chit chats. The rain starts to fall and we start our engines and head to Sierra Madre Resort. Cruising along to Sierra Madre Resort the fog starts to thicken (almost zero visibilty) you can’t even see the road or if there’s any vehicle in front of you and slowly we drive and reached Sierra Madre Resort thankfully without any accidents.

9:14 am – Foggy Sierra Madre! We parked our motorcycles, took off our helmets, balaclava and jackets. The scenery is as if we’re in the clouds! Again we took some pictures and decided to find a place to eat. Before leaving Sierra Madre Resort again the rain starts to fall.

10:19 am – Cute and Starving! We’re having our all time favorite, BULALO! (meaning rain or shine this menu is on the top list) Wherelse? at Mang Vic’s place! yummy! For just 60php you can eat a bowl of Bulalo good for two ( if your not that hungry you can share it with a friend ) a cup of rice is 8php and eventhough rice prices are too high (except for NFA rice) you will ask for an extra! Bulalo for take out, a couple of jokes and some pictures taken, we’re going to go home. Oh! did I mention that it is sunny when we’re at Mang Vic’s Bulaluhan?

11:29 am – Gas up! Back at Petron, some of us gassed up, some took a little rest and off we go to the road again to go home.

12:36 pm – Its raining men! Finally we’re in Villamor Air Base, the Las Pinas members bid their goodbyes as they go on their way home. Its raining again!

It doesn’t matter if it is a Sunny, Rainy or Foggy ride the thing is, it is memorable! And we can’t wait for another ride! Long Live Metro Soth Scoots!

We would like to thank our love ones, friends and MSS co-members for continues support and most importantly to our Lord God who always keep us safe and protected in every journey.

Ride For a Cause Part 2 has just been concluded and all were in high spirits. In the forums, a suggestion was raised about having a tshirt printed for the participants of RfaC, so that the riders can identify each other by having the rider’s handle name printed on the shirt.

A rider (ehem!) came up with a tshirt design concept, and using a very rough design, presented it to the rider’s on the forums. Another rider then put the concept to a working design, most of the riders agreed to the concept and design and commissioned another former to start printing the tshirts. A list was populated to reflect the rider’s tshirt orders and sizes. Our RfaC organizer’s (do we need to name name’s? ) had stepped up for the collection for the cost of the shirt and even volunteered their personal bank accounts as a means of collecting the payments. As the tshirt project was underway, RfaC organizers also started to collect funds and donations. Organizers had identified the next RfaC recepient as the Rehoboth Children’s Home in Sampaloc, Tanay, Rizal. In coordination with Ms. Fe Canlas, Resident Administrator of Rehoboth, riders started gathering the donations. Meanwhile, the tshirt project was finished and was distributed thru the valiant efforts of one of our RfaC senior organizer.

After the success of Ride For a Cause Part 1 & 2, the riders of MCP did it again. Ride For a Cause Part 3 was a success story in the history books. With funds left over from the previous RFAC and the donations that poured in, participants of the project banded together once again and rode and shared their blessings.

As scheduled, the rider assembled at Shell (Pugon) Marcos highway at around 5 am, July 6, 2008. As the riders with their donations arrive, everybody was busy exchanging Hi’s and Hello’s as the tshirts has given identity to these riders. The donations were collected and placed on the back up cages. As usual, after saying a short prayer for a safe journey, everybody geared up and at 6:30 am, took off for MaRiLaQue. First stop, Nature Lover’s point. Riders enjoyed the beautiful morning ride, the roads leading up Sierra Madre was open, not much traffic so everybody enjoyed riding the twisting and winding road. Upon arrival at Garden Cottages, riders took the opportunity for photographs and a quick chat. As the group had assembled, they then proceeded to Sampaloc, Tanay.

Arriving at the intersection going to Sampaloc and Infanta, with a quick stop, more opportunity for picture taking and “taho break”.

Rders arrived at the Asian Hope Missonary Outreach of the Philippines at around 8am. The Administrator and staff of Rehoboth was overwhelmed with the sheer volume of motorcycles in their driveway. Riders unpack and presented the donations to the Rehoboth administrator.

Ms. Fe Canlas shared information and stories about how they are helping the children admitted to their institution. Riders took pictures, and some had taken the opportunity to roam and tour the grounds. It was a very festive atmosphere, riders also went around and met the some of the kids and listened to their sad stories about how they were abandoned or surrendered to the institution. Mostly were unwanted pregnancies or were totally abandoned by their parents. It was very heart warming to see the children smile as they opened the box of toys and other donations.

Everybody had enjoyed the trip. It was well worth the time and effort from these volunteer riders from MCP. As usual, a lot of digital cameras were clicking and shooting away, the children joined as well as the Rehoboth staff, “Sige Ate, taas pa!” a rider said jokingly, (I wonder why? Hahaha)

The ride was not complete without a hot meal of bulalo at Mang Vic’s, which the rider’s had enjoyed on their way down the mountains of Sierra Madre.

Ride For a Cause 3 another successful project.

Come and join us, “Naka-ride ka na, nakatulong ka pa!”

They are forumers of MotorcyclePhilippines.com who have banded together from different motorcycle groups and clubs that wanted to share their blessings to the less fortunate. These riders are local tourists who mostly take rides along the countryside to get away from the busy urban life we are all used to.

Usually, rides are scheduled on Sunday mornings when the weather permits. Riders meet at a Shell gas station at Marcos Highway around dawn, go up the mountains thru Cogeo and thru Tanay. These riders traverse the twisting and winding roads to get to Laguna or Quezon, enjoy hot meals of bulalo and inihaw or hot lomi soups at a popular bulaluhan or lomi house then go back to Manila thru the same twisting and winding roads. And be back home in the afternoon, and have enough rest to go back to work the next day.

Since the popular destination of most riders in MCP go thru a route that we call “MaRiLaQue”, which stands for Manila, Rizal, Laguna and Quezon, it was only but natural they start here. These riders wanted to give back to the community so that the people who live here would not have a bad impression that these motorcycle riders are a nuisance but rather are known as friends of the community.

It all started from a single post by an MCP forumer asking to give back to the community. The suggestion that stood out from the different suggestions shared were to buy school supplies for students residing along the mostly traveled roads by these motorcycle riders. The original plan was to have each rider share at least one pencil and one notebook, considering that the school year is about to start. One by one, an MCP forumer steps up to take charge of the logistics of the project, from the initial ocular inspection of the target area, to the coordination with the concerned public official who had jurisdiction of the target area. And thus, the “Ride For a Cause” project was born. Volunteers popped up from these riders to provide support for the project. Pledges poured in from individuals, from clubs and even from forumers outside the Philippines joined and gave donations.

The first target area was Barangay Tunhac III, a remote barangay in Famy, Laguna. Famy is also one of the popular destinations of these riders. Thru coordination with Vice Mayor Melvin Laminero, he had provided the necessary data for the beneficiaries of the project. A total of 101 kids were chosen to be the beneficiaries of the Ride For a Cause. These kids range between Grade 1 and Grade 6 pupils. The project’s volunteer organizers have collected enough funds to buy the kids about 6 notebooks each with pencils, ball pens and crayons. One rider had also donated a set of old encyclopedias.

On the morning of April 20, 2008, riders from all over the metro including riders coming from Bulacan and Bicol were in attendance. Around 50+ riders and back riders, assembled at Shell, some arriving as early as 5:00 am. After a pre-ride briefing and a short prayer for a safe journey, the riders took off at 6:30 am and proceeded to Famy in Laguna. First stop over was at Nature Lovers’ Point at Garden Cottages in Tanay. Next stop over was at Caltex; riders gas up then preceded to Barangay Tunhac. Arriving at the destination, they were greeted by Vice Mayor Laminero and his staff who had already gathered the 101 students. The parents were there to join and witness the event. The students were very happy for the gifts given by these good Samaritans who just wanted to share their blessings. A few residents even provided free buko juice, from coconuts freshly picked from the trees, to some of the riders to extend their gratitude. The project was a huge success. It was so successful that there were enough funds and additional pledges to cater for a 2nd round.

Plans for “Ride For a Cause II” were underway. After identifying the next target, an area that was along the road most traveled along MaRiLaQue, in Barangay Cayumbay, Tanay Rizal. Thru the coordinated efforts of Barangay Captain Rading Juco, 124 students were targeted as the next beneficiaries of Round 2 of the project. It was said that these children are descendants of Aetas called remontados, who have married outside their tribes and some of these families live on collecting wood to sell as “uling”. Again thru the forums of MCP, funds were gathered and the schools supplies were purchased. Riders from the different groups and riders without clubs, who frequent the forums, were invited to participate.

On May 25, 2008, again riders from all over mega Manila gathered and assembled at the same take off point, Shell Marcos Highway at 5:00 am. Due to the success of Round 1, it was evident that a lot of riders joined round 2 where 80+ riders and back riders had participated; most are veterans of Round 1. They took off at 6:30 am, traveled the same road. Riders stop over at the Nature Lovers’ Point. Once gathered, riders proceeded to the location. Riding thru the twisting and winding road is always a treat for these riders and this is one of the reasons they frequent this route, as well as enjoying the scenery of green rolling hills, the fresh mountain air and the slow pace of life in this part of the country. Upon arrival of the group at Barangay Cayumbay, most of the students were already there. Bgy. Capt. Juco organized the kids by grade level as the riders were preparing and packing the school supplies in plastic bags; 4 notebooks, 2 pad papers, 2 pencils for grade 1 to grade 3; and 4 notebooks, 2 ball pens and 2 intermediate pad papers for grade 4 to grade 6 students. The kids and the parents also brought some gifts. They gave us freshly picked pineapples, papaya and one big “Langka” as a show of gratitude. After distributing the school supplies and after some pictures were taken, the volunteer organizers held a short meeting to account for the expenses. As with the first round, there were still funds left, enough for a starter fund for Round 3. As of press time, funds are still being collected and plans for the next round are being discussed, possibly “Plant a Tree” or maybe “Tsinelas para sa Bata” are among the choices.

These groups of riders barely know each other. Some recognize each other by the handle name they use in the forums. Most of them are total strangers from each other but are united by one goal – to ride and to help the less fortunate at the same time. They are the modern knights on iron horses, willing to extend a helping hand and share their blessings to the less fortunate. Showing that the spirit of “bayanihan” is still alive as this “Ride For a Cause” is a purely voluntary project, these modern knights will continue to ride the countrysides and lend a hand in whatever way they can.

As I was browsing the compact disk (CD) given by Sir Jon, our official photographer, which contained the photo shots of various CMC group rides for the past two years (the CD was intended for the photo story in Scooterista mag), I just can’t help but to relive the days when a bunch of motorcycle enthusiasts welcomed the opening of a group to Cavite riders for the main reason of getting enjoyment from riding to different scenic hotspots in the Philippines, particularly Luzon, and consequently gave way to the birth of Cavite Moto Club (2005).

Is an iron riding butt developed through practice or are just inborn to some? Well, members of Sunday Riders Club would find it out the hard way. With quite a few years of riding the short to medium routes, SRC members wanted to see if they have developed that “iron butt” needed to complete a North Luzon loop. Weeks of planning ensued: brainstorming sessions during tambays, consultations with SRC seniors and friends who have done the loop, then it was finalized; SRC is going to do the North Luzon loop ride. Sadly, months before the planned ride, Mgee figured in an accident doing the loop ride with another group. although still grieving for the loss of a Dear Ride Buddy Brother, Friend, Father and Mentor, SRC members were even more motivated to pursue this ride, not only for their own satisfaction, but also as a tribute to a fellow rider whose passion for biking was unparalleled.
