Suzuki Philippines, Inc. (SPH), the country’s only integrated automotive company, marks a major milestone in its history as it celebrates its silver anniversary. Established in February 1985, Suzuki Philippines has earned a well-deserved reputation for offering superior quality yet affordable motorcycles to Filipino consumers.

Suzuki motorcycles were first introduced in the Philippines in 1959 by Rufino D. Antonio & Associates, Inc., who handled nationwide distribution. In 1975, Antonio Suzuki Corporation was formed as a joint venture company to expand motorcycle sales. In 1985, Suzuki Motor Corporation of Japan took over operations, establishing Suzuki Philippines as a wholly-owned subsidiary, handling both manufacturing and distribution of Suzuki motorcycles.

In 1999, the company marked another milestone when it took over automobile operations from Pilipinas Transport Industries, Inc. (PTII), thus expanding its product line to include automobiles, and becoming the only integrated automotive company in the country carrying a full range of two-wheel and four-wheel product lines.

In its 25-year history, Suzuki Philippines has built a heritage of trust and reliability, with a loyal following of Suzuki owners who recognize the brand’s eminence as an innovator and trendsetter.

Suzuki Motorcycles

Suzuki motorcycles have been enjoyed by Filipino riders for more than five decades, with loyal enthusiasts who value its proven performance and reliability over the years. Always sensitive to consumer demand, Suzuki has responded to changing market trends by introducing innovative products like the Raider R150. It has also spearheaded various programs aimed at promoting motorcycling as an alternative lifestyle as well as motorcycle riding safety. Suzuki motorcycles are highly-regarded for their durability, overall excellent performance, fuel efficiency and environment-friendliness. Recent achievements in the local racing scene are a testament to Suzuki motorcycles’ exceptional performance.

Suzuki Automobiles

Suzuki automobiles enjoy a niche following among local car aficionados, particularly among compact vehicle enthusiasts. Its current product line include: Suzuki Grand Vitara, Suzuki APV Type II, Suzuki SX4 sedan, Suzuki Swift, Suzuki Celerio, and Suzuki Alto.

Despite its relatively recent entry in the local car market, Suzuki automobiles have earned accolades. Most recent of which were the 2009 Car of the Year (COTY) “Best Value for Money” award given to the Suzuki Celerio by the prestigious Car Awards Group Inc. (CAGI), and the 2009 Best Compact People Carrier award given to the Suzuki APV Type II by automotive publication C! Magazine. In the 2009 E10 Fuel Economy Run of the Department of Energy, the Suzuki Celerio M/T posted the lowest fuel consumption of 34.34 kilometers per liter.

Economic Contributions

Suzuki Philippines is committed to being a good corporate citizen by contributing to the Philippine economy. In 1990, Suzuki Philippines exported its first batch of Philippine-made Suzuki motorcycles to Guatemala.

In line with the government’s program to establish backward linkages with allied companies, Suzuki is expanding its localization program, sourcing as much as 45% local components for its tricycle models.

Faced with the challenges of globalization and free trade allowing importation of low-cost motorcycles, Suzuki Philippines is adopting a growth strategy focused on increasing both the solo-ride and tricycle segments. As the country continues to industrialize, Suzuki motorcycles will provide a safe, economical, convenient and fashionable means of transportation.

Suzuki Philippines is committed to doing its share in accelerating the progress and industrialization of the country by introducing more dynamic products for both motorcycles and automobiles as well as programs for the Filipino motoring public harnessing the power of Suzuki’s Way of Life by providing them the best quality vehicles that offer not just ease in transportation, but lifestyle options as well.

Exactly what are they talking about?  They are referring to the VESPA ATTACK, baby!

Now on it’s fourth incarnation, the rally is attracting interest not just with fellow Vespa enthusiasts within the Philippines, but from outside the country as well.  Proof the the Vespa scene in the country is alive and kickin’!
