ART CLASS IS AGAIN IN SESSION!

Track Days also in November and December 2008

The Motorcycle RidersCourse (MRC), together with Apexx Performance and Bike Plus, will be ending its 2008 school season with not just one, but two levels, of its largely successful Advanced Rider Training (ART) program. What’s more, two ART Track Days are also in the offing for November and December of this year for those who would like to hone their riding skills or simply enjoy and have fun on track with other riders.

The Advanced Rider Training (ART) School of the MRC had its initial foray into the world of high performance motorcycle education in the Philippines early this year. It has so far graduated two batches of an exceedingly satisfied clientele of big bike and sportbike riders who said they are greatly anticipating the next levels of ART.

Then riders, wait no further!

The next session for the Advanced Rider Training School will be on November 08, 2008 (Saturday) for Level 1 (ART-1) students or for first-time enrollees, and Level 2 (ART-2), for riders who have graduated from Level 1. The ART will be held at the Batangas Racing Circuit in Rosario, Batangas.

Level 1 will continue to have the trained expertise of its Chief Instructors, Superbike veteran Julian Goitia and 400cc specialist Miguel Ripoll. On-track coaching will be piloted by Superbike and Underbone champ Rod Chua, who in turn leads a formidable team of track experts and former race pros that include Jay Carrion, Richie Lazaro, and the comebacking Jade Lazaro.

Level 2 also has a very exciting line-up of track coaches that will surely make many a high-speed rider and would-be racer to want to make a beeline for the ART.

Philippine Superbike champion Toti Alberto, fresh and raring to get back on track after months of absence from the racing scene this year, will be one of two new instructor additions to the ART for this level. The other will be Superbike racer Miguel Bichara. Both said they were only too happy to be on board the country’s first, all-Filipino, high performance motorcycle school. Both Toti and Miguel disclosed that they said “yes” despite their own busy careers if only to help develop the talents of the country’s next generation of motorcyclists. Also sharing their knowledge for Level 2 will again be Julian Goitia, Migs Ripoll, and Rod Chua.

Over-seeing all of the classroom and on-track action is Motorcycle RidersCourse President and Chief Instructor, and ART School Director, Jake Swann.

But school’s not the only thing on these guy’s minds! School’s cool, but riders also know how to have fun!

Come November 09, 2008 (Sunday) and December 07, 2008 (Sunday), ART Track Days will be on the agenda for those who only watch from the track sides and say “Hey, I can do a little of that!” Track days are a great experience for those who have never ridden their bike on a circuit. Whether one is an expert, a novice, or a beginner, bikers should try riding in a track day at least once.

ART Track Days are organized in a way that novice riders don’t feel the pressure of keeping up with the more experienced ones. All a rider needs to do is come and enjoy the day with other bikers, in a safe and friendly environment. Riders will even be surprised at how one day of riding around the track can help build one’s confidence.

Riders are grouped into their respective skill levels and a full safety briefing is done at the beginning of the day. Riding is then divided into 15-minute sessions for each group, with an hour for lunch. Ride marshals and trained instructors will be on hand to give advice and guide riders around the track. Groups, clubs, or individuals can also have their own track instructor for one session on the circuit for a more personalized track experience.

Safety is also a priority. Track marshals, medical services, and a trained staff and crew will be there to make sure everyone will have a smooth and stress-free ride around the track.

All bike displacements are welcome! Riders must wear a full set of leathers (1-, 2-piece, or combination) or its textile equivalent with complete armor (no jeans, mesh pants and/or mesh jackets will be allowed), back protector, full-faced DOT-ECE 22 approved helmet (no half- or open-face or modular helmets) full-fingered leather gloves, and above ankle footwear/leather boots to be allowed on track.

Mark these dates on your calendar and see you at the track!
