Valentino Rossi samples the BMW M3 GTS, drives away in M3 sedan — Autoblog
Valentino Rossi samples the BMW M3 GTS, drives away in M3 sedan — Autoblog.
After securing his record ninth MotoGP title, there’s little doubt that Valentino Rossi is the fastest man on two wheels. And BMW has acknowledged the Italian rider’s speed by awarding him a brand-spankin’-new M3 sedan.
The German automaker is a sponsor of the motorbike racing series, providing organizers with safety cars and other vehicles, and even using it to debut the new X6 M crossover earlier this year. And every year BMW gifts a car to the rider who proved the fastest in qualifying over the course of the season. Rossi’s won the “M Award” five times now, but before he drove off in his new V8 sports sedan, BMW gave him a rare opportunity to sample the new hardcore M3 GTS.

Stand Up For Your Ride on the Vespa 1+1 | Autopia | Wired.com.

From Italy comes an update on the classic Vespa scooter that eschews its traditional form to become a stand-up scooter for two. Call it la dolce Segway.
“The idea for the project was to create a minimum vehicle for the city,” Designer Davide Panarella told Wired.com. That vehicle just had to be a Vespa, “not only because it is the spirit of Italian design, but because it marked a step in the history and world culture, which is also the first real minimum vehicle for the city.”
MotoItalia officially announces appointment as distributor of Piaggio, Vespa and Gilera
MotoItalia Philippines, Inc., a synergy between GBI and the Autohub Group, hosted a launch party last October 15, 2009 to announce their appointment as the official Philippine distributor of the stylish Italian Piaggio & C.S.p.a. line of scooters, namely Piaggio, Vespa and Gilera.
The MEMBERS ONLY in The Fort was packed with over 200 guests from government, media, scooter communities, showbiz, business sector and the motoring industry. True to its La Polizia theme, the venue was converted to a police department where hot foreign and local models served as police officers, and “reprimanded” the guests who came in as traffic violators. The strict policewomen assisted the guests with their “mug” shots, driving safety seminar and “license releasing”.
Men and women clad in scooterista chic outfits were all in a festive mood the whole night. Ruffino Wines took care of the drinks, while AGV Helmets and Ben Sherman made sure the guests were happy about the raffle. Products AVPs flashed on Philips LCD TVs kept everybody entertained. The major partners for the event were Standard Insurance, GoldPlan Insurance Brokers and Motul True Performance Oil.
The unveiling of the scooters was the highlight of the party. Guests could not help but swoon as the Piaggio, Vespa and Gilera units were being undressed from the covers.
MotoItalia aims to actively promote scooter riding in the Philippines as a stylish, modern and environment-friendly and fun way to move around the city. RFAC Mission 7 Season 2

The once a month RFAC Mission Ride supposed to be a regular visit to an orphanage was change to a relief mission to the victims of Typhoon Ondoy.
This happened when the Ms. Danica Salazar, daughter of Sir Pogi kasmut who is in Barcelona, Spain posted a blog in the internet detailing the devastation made by Typhoon Ondoy to the Philippines. Included in the said blog was a solicitation for donation to the victims, fortunately, lots of good hearted individual pledges their support to the cause of Ms. Salazar. With this funds RFAC look for possible recipients that needs the most assistance.
Sir Extremevelocity, assigned to look for the proposed beneficiaries. With coordination with local officials, he chose the residents of Brgy. De La Paz, Bi?an, Laguna. Initially RFAC allocated funds for the first 100 families that need most assistance. This Barangay is still submerged in flood water as of this writing. To have an organized distribution of goods, Sir Extremevelocity issues claim stubs for the first 100 and a reserved 50 stubs to be distributed on site.
November 21, 2009 was purchasing and repacking day. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the Volunteers, to many to mention, but you know who you are for your unwavering support and extending your helping hands in repacking relief goods.
This relief mission was set on November 22, 2009. There were two (2) assembly points for the Volunteers to meet. Unfortunately one of the Volunteer suffered a mechanical problem with his bike and the supposed merging of two groups didn’t happened.
The main group from a Gasoline Station along Macapagal Blvd., in Pasay City headed their way to Cavite at around 6:15am to be met by contingent from Cavite. After a brief rundown and inspections of motorcycles they proceed to their destination. A Red Ribbon was attached to the Volunteer Motorcycles for easy identifications. The group traversed along Aguinaldo Highway then left to Governors Drive to meet the contingents from Laguna headed by PSRC-Laguna in Bi?an, Laguna.
In a gasoline station, Volunteers from Laguna were already together with the jeep loaded of relief goods driven by Tatay Totoy, Father of COE Sir Alvin who is overseas. there waiting for the Volunteers from Manila .
The Volunteers headed to Elementary School of Bi?an. A miscommunication happened when one rider volunteered to spearhead the group, instead of going to the above mentioned school he went to Brgy. De La Paz. A commotion almost happened when the residents of this barangay learned that the jeep is loaded with relief goods and they are asking for relief goods. We can’t blame these people for there were not receiving any assistance. The said school was chosen to prevent such thing to happen.
At Bi?an Elementary School, some members of PSRC-Laguna were already there to prepare hot water for coffee and breads for the Volunteers. They also donated 50 packs of relief goods.
The relief goods were distributed without any untoward incidents. Because the school was also a relocation area, we have to cordon the area to have proper distribution. Fortunately, the supposed first 100 and 50 from PSRC, and the extra packs of relief goods able to sustain the number of families that needs to receive the donations.
Oranges and apples were also distributed to the children.
To the Volunteers of RFAC, to the Donors and Supporters, especially to Ms. Danica Salazar and the people of Spain who extend their help, Thank You is not enough, may you receive folds for your good deeds.
God Bless Us All.

“JINGLE BELL ROCK” AND ROLL TOWARDS CLARK FOR A FUN-FILLED DECEMBER NRA TRACK DAY!

Spend your Christmas holidays jingle-belling, or rather, safely speeding, your way around the country’s newest race circuit, the Clark International Speedway (CIS)* inside the Clark Economic Zone in Angeles City, Pampanga, during the National Racing Association’s (NRA) fourth-quarter Track Day on 13 December 2009, Sunday!
The 2009 NRA Track Days are presented by Bridgestone Tires.
Shake-off all that stress that usually comes with the rush of the yuletide season and let your inner speed “angel” (and not your “inner demon” — remember, it’s Christmas!) to give you a different kind of rush on the track.
The popularity of motorcycle Track Days have been on the rise ever since these two-wheeled machines, big and small, have become a major, if not the number one, mode of transportation in the country today. But many riders nowadays are also becoming more aware of the safety aspects of motor biking, and have taken to fulfilling their “need for speed” in a more secure and controlled environment, such as the track.
But what’s cool about the NRA’s Track Days is that it’s got a lot of the rider in mind – which accounts for the presence of a full staff of track and ride marshals, ambulance stand-by services with medics and a medical doctor, a trained staff and crew to make every participant’s day worry-free, as well as other incidentals such as ready fire extinguishers, on-track fuel for easy petrol purchases, meals and drinks that come with your registration fee, and all those other nitty-gritty details that we don’t want the participants to fuss about.
So, for all that, registration fee is only Php 1,300 for big bikes and Php 700 for small bikes!
All you guys have to do is come with a track-ready machine (T-CLOCS it please! Tires, oil, spark plugs, etc.) and complete gear, and you’re ready to go and enjoy your day at the track!
Riders will be grouped and color coded into the following groups (check which group you belong to, so you’ll know when you arrive at the track):
|
Group |
Rider Level |
Group Restrictions |
|
A |
EXPERT TRACK RIDERS AND RACERS | STANDARD RACE TRACK RULES APPLY. |
|
B |
EXPERIENCED TRACK RIDERS | NO PASSING IN STRAIGHTS AND TURNS. |
|
C |
NOVICE TRACK RIDERS | NO PASSING IN TURNS. STRAIGHTS ONLY. |
|
D |
FIRST TIME TRACK RIDERS | NO PASSING. PERIOD. |
| SB (Small Bikes) | UNDERBONE and SCOOTER RIDERS | NO PASSING w/in 6 FT. OF ANOTHER RIDER. |
For gear, only full leathers will do for Class A riders. All the other groups may use full leathers or its textile equivalent, complete with armor (shoulders, elbows, and knees) and back protector. Round it up with a full face helmet (no open face, half face, or three quarters), leather gloves, and riding boots.
We’ve also got something special “chestnuts-a-roasting and a-brewing on the open fire” this Track Day.
Ortiz Motorsports Corporation (OMC), under the helm of former Superbike racer, and now rider impresario Randy Ortiz, will be sponsoring two exciting and fun club races during the day, so watch out for that!
You can also bump into today’s popular racers in Philippine motor sports. NRA Track Day regulars have been Toti Alberto, Glenn Aguilar, Miguel Bichara, Ryan Medina, Dashi Watanabe, Joby Tanseco, John Defensor, and racing’s future stars Brandel Ortiz and Mokoy Ancheta.
For more information and participation fees, please call the National Racing Association at tel. no. (02) 725 3949 and mobile no. (917) 820 2391. Please look for Rose.
NRA Track Days are also sponsored by Teknic Leathers, Aeromed Ambulance Transport, Easy Trailer, together with media partners Inside Racing Magazine, Mo2rista Magazine, and www.motorcyclephilippines.com.
*To get to the Clark International Speedway, take Balintawak into the North Luzon Expressway, and there are several exits you can take going to the Clark Ecozone: San Fernando Exit, Magalang / Angeles City Exit, Mabalacat Exit, or Dau Exit. Refer to map to get inside the Clark Ecozone. CIS is located right across the Centennial Expo. Travel time from Manila is approximately 45 minutes to one (1) hour.

Motokhana Super 8 Results

Sumunod sina “small but terrible” Rashne Obligacion, sa 1st run niyang 1.44.21, Liberty Center-edition champ Jhay Aguilar, 1st run time din ng 1.45.10, returning challenger Jesie Lastrella sa 2nd run niyang oras na 1.58.74, Motokhana newbie Jeric Guevarra with a first run of 2.00.02, and Motokhana regular Ivan Banez, sa Run 1 time niya na 2.03.15.
Nagtapos sila with a 1st run top time of 1.47.00. Pangalawa ay ang magkakaibigan na sina Philip Bonza at Ado de Leon of Team PJ Bonza with a 2nd run of 1.53.37.
