C2R Slex

Feb 11 Tagaytay / Scooterista Ride Report by Vroooom

First Official C2R Ride for 2007 was almost perfect or I should say 98% perfect.

We left almost on time… scheduled take off was 6am but the pack left around 620am (base on Iggy’s watch). After take off the pack was ok, or I should say very much ok and well discipline using the C5 Road, We used staggered formation running around 80-90kph. Then we entered SLEX…. Yahoo! Our own version of Freedom Ride!!! We’re hot and we’re proud!

Getting inside SLEX was ok, smooth sailing, and then Shadow has to exit Sucat since he is going to pick up some ube and other staff. I took the lead towards Alabang exit. But ten meters before Alabang exit, we were apprehended by SLEX authority. They asked us to show our drivers licensed, we didn’t respond to his request since we know exactly what we need to do. I was the first one to stop.

New Modus Operandi?

Posted by BoyG On February - 12 - 2007

Picked this up from the Vespinoy forum….

Just today one of my friends was stopped my some cops from the MANILA POLICE. They asked for his license and the registration of the VESPA he was riding. After seeing that the license was in order they now turned their sights on the registration which was current but still under the name of the original owner. They made an issue of that fact and wanted to impound the VESPA. They wanted to see the original notarized deed of sale made out to my Friend since he was driving the VESPA. How in the F*&%$#G way can he have that when I lent the VESPA to him and I bought the VESPA and the deed is made out to me?! Pilit nila to impound the scoot. My friend calls me so I can bring the papers to the station. Buti nalang my friends aunt is a Judge sa Manila. The cops returned the VESPA to my friend with much apologies after learning of that fact.

If this is true this is very alarming, all this harassment going on is just a bit too much already. We all work hard to make a living and we don’t need another set of greedy hands dipping into our already overstretched pockets.

Jeez, as they say…”Only in the Philippines….” ay mali….”Always in the Philippines”

Wiki the Freeway Ban

Posted by mcphils On February - 9 - 2007

Just saw in this thread that Frank Woolf, the venerable founder of Motorcycle Philippines had edited the Philippine entry on Restriction on Motorcycle Use on Freeways in Wikipedia.

An earlier entry had this paragraph included.

But in 2006, the Supreme Court rendered the total motorcycle ban ineffective by voiding the Government orders declaring toll freeways as limited access highways. Since then, toll freeways in the Philippines have been open to motorcycles of all engine sizes.

Hmmm makes you wonder who put that there.
