Ride Report by JonCarlos

4:00 a.m. October 24 (Tuesday) eyeball at Shell Times Gas Station Las Piñas. Where’s everyone? Oh! There you are Sir Ramir! (tatlo palang kami! Vrian, Leemay and Sir Ramir. Naiwan na ba tayo?) And then Sir Kirby of Philippine Suzuki Riders Club- Las Piñas arrived followed by Ka Nestor of For The Road Riders Club, Sir Allan and Sir Ryan of Metro South Scoots. After an hour Sir Jon and Ma’am Kris arrived packed with their funny story about one of the Philippine Suzuki Riders Club- Las Piñas co-club member hahaha! We are all expecting to take off at 5:00 a.m. but then one of the Metro South Scoots member is still on his way (Sir Joel is that you?)

SM Megamall Bans Scooters in Parking Building

Posted by mcphils On October - 27 - 2006

Just read in this forum that SM Megamall has come up with a rule that bans scooters from parking in both the Building A and Building B parking complexes.

They reason that because of the recent bomb threats scooters are not allowed inside the buildings. Like all bombers ride scoots.

I am not sure if other bikes are also not allowed since the source of the news rides a scooter.
If you do have news about this, please post it here.

Jarius Bondoc Philstar Article

Posted by mcphils On October - 26 - 2006

Snake 1 posted this article written by opinion writer Jarius Bondoc in The Philippine Star.

Motorists are grumbling about the alarming number of motorcycles on the road. Exchanges of gory accident photos on the Net and of stories of near misses by careless bikers invariably end with the question: when will the government ever draft a policy on pesky two-wheelers? The hope is for officials to write one soon, and not wait for calamity, like the dismantling of all ad billboards after some collapsed from typhoon.

In truth there’s no need for new rules, only enforcement of old laws. For instance, any driver, of car or bike, must not recklessly swerve in and out of lanes. Too, bikers must wear regulation helmets, not plastic caps that, according to trauma surgeon Orlando Ocampo, will only help to keep their brains from scattering far from a crash site. The doctor from the Far Eastern University Hospital also reminds bikers that babies and toddlers may not ride motorcycles because these are not designed for them.

What the officials can do is designate bike lanes on major thoroughfares; in the absence of any, bikers would be safe to stay on the slow lane. It’s foolish of them to stop and crowd on the fast lane under a pedestrian overpass during a downpour, as if waiting for a drug-crazed trucker with faulty headlights and windshield wipers to wham them like bowling pins.

In first glance, it looks like another incarnation of the Top Gear Article issue. But upon further reading, valid points are seen and you understand where the complaint comes from. Most of the things mentioned in this article are things we see everyday and things that, I personally, do not condone. Mr. Bondoc is right, there is no need for new laws, we have too many laws that are not being enforced anyway. But what we may ask is that those laws, when applied, be applied to all and not be used as a tool of discrimination.

I texted everyone to assemble at shell julia vargas @ 5:30am so we can take off by 6am. I was already in shell by 5:20am and to my suprise i was the 1st one to arrive. . . Met d’8 of psrc and told him that we might join them on the train but sadly its already 6am only me and richard were present and bid psrc goodbye since they already took off. . . Waited for raf and randz to arrive at 6:30am finaly!! Bid the explorers philippines bye bye since they were also waiting for some members! Me, randz, rap and richard took off at around 6:40am and headed straight to marilaque! The road is clear so weve dicided to play a bit on our way to sierra madre. . Train was headed by me,randz, richard and rap made a quick break at the garden half way to sierra madre resort.

After a few minutes we geared up and headed to sierra madre to rest again we played a bit since the weather is great the road is clear. Touchdown at sierra madre at 7:30am. Few minutes have passed sir d’8 and sir iconlord of psrc arrived. . One by one psrc riders arrived and took some pics. We were joined by m2c and xplorers philippines! Thanks guys!

After awhile psrc said to us that they will be heading back for bulalo and told them that we will join them! On our way down got the chance to see some big bikers and cruiser bikes heading up to Sierra Madre Resort (i think).

To make the long story short we ate bulalo and filled our tummy and headed home!

Hope everyone made it home safely!

Nice ride guys and hope to ride with you guys again!
